I am trying to plan our ADR's for next year(never too early right?) Anyway, Our AK day, I planned on doing TH breakfast(a first for us) and finish the 'animal' day with T-Rex. I know we will have to pay OOP but I am wondering if its worth it and if its hard to get a reservation for a large group? I have been to RC plenty of times and love the atmosphere and food. Iv never been to RC in DTD but I am assuming its the same lol. TIA!

We went a couple of years ago and were not overly impressed with it. Very similar to RC. Average (at best) food, just substitute apes and elephants with dinos. Definitly liked the the RC atmosphere more though. Thought my 2 boys would love it, but they've never asked to go back since.

HMMMM good to know. Now I am wondering if RC would be better? 3 of the kiddos going have never been to RC since they no longer have one around me. It would still be a day of 'animals' lol. I just though T-Rex because 2 of the kiddos are into dinos but the other 3 could care less. Everyone like animals though!

Does T-rex do anything special? Like RC had the storms and the animals make noise.

We went in 2009 when our kids were 10, 10 and 12. We all liked it. I liked the theming just as much as RC. It was a nice lunch. I'd say try it. The dinos roar and move...there is a meteor shower room I believe. All kinds of cool stuff.

I'm not trying to dissuade you. I believe the only way you will know is by trying it. We took our (at the time) 7 and 8 year old dino fan sons and they just thought it was "ok" and have never asked to go back even though we go to WDW every year. But they have asked to go back to RC. Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing for RC, I dont like either restaurant! lol:cool1: I think the food stinks at both and I am no food snob by any means!

We went shortly after it opened and while the food was okay - my adult DS loved the ribs- it was also very loud. Fortunately none of the children has asked to go there again. We were at a table where we could watch the chickens going round and round on the rotisserie and the dinos and other effects were good but personally don''t care if we ever go back. The menu is similar to RC with different names.

We ate there a few weeks ago and had no problem with party of 6. If your kids are into dinos, they will like the meteor shower and dinos come to life ever 20 mins or so. My DS2 didnt care for all the noise but our table was tucked into a reef in the wall so we werent right next to the Trex. It was good to experience it for the first time but we will plan to eat at a DDP next trip.
My friend's DS8 is a huge dino fan so they loved the huge experience. The food was good and had plenty of leftovers. We even paid for the special mixed drinks so we have the souvenir glasses now...:rotfl2:
The kids will also enjoy the play area afterwards when they get to use paint brushes and look for dino bones in the sand.

We do T-Rex every trip, we love the theming and the food is better than RC even the kids prefer TRex

We've gone a few times and it is a fun time. Very similiar to the RC but obviously dino themed. We thought the food was good, not great, once again same kind of quality as RC. Worth going to at least once.

We tried T-Rex last week and used our mypoints gift card $25.
We are two seniors and we were pleasantly surprised. I had made
reservations thru the TRex line, for 6:15PM. We arrived at 6:15PM and were
given a pager. There were lots of folks standing around both inside and outside. We waited less than 5 minutes. We had the french onion soup, and we shared fish & chips. The cod fish was very good, and the cheese on the onion soup was nice. It was noisy, but the light shows are fun.
We would go back. I'm glad we tried it.

Thanks eeryone! After talking to DH, We are going to keep it :goodvibes: just to say we tried it. Who knows we may love it :goodvibes:

We went to T-Rex two years ago and we were impressed! The food was good and good size portions too. We thought we would have to wait forever as there was a large line out side, but it turned out to be one huge group waiting for everyone to arrive. We haven't been the RC in Florida, but we tried the one in Niagara Falls and we were very disappointed. We are looking at going back to T-Rex this month when we are back at WDW. :cool1:

We went a couple weeks ago and loved it. We all liked the food and the kids loved walking around. I had a couple gift cards I had earned on a reward site and I am a safari club member so saving $$ helped our overall impression too I am sure :thumbsup2

Thanks! I am excited now:)

My family and I did T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe during our vacation. Although the theming is similar, one has dinosaurs and the other tropical, we preferred T-Rex over Rainforest. We were disappointed with the food at Rainforest, but all 10 of us really enjoyed T-Rex's food!

HTH

We just got back and we LOVED it!!!! I have a 4 and 1 and 1/2 year old. The dinosaurs are great and seem real :) The kids loved digging for fossils and of course the Build a Dinosaur! Food was great! We will be going back! You will not regret this! Have a great trip!:thumbsup2

I don't think it's anything to write home about. I believe it's owned by the same company that owns RC, so the food quality and offerings are very similar. Our food was good, but nothing special. We went on an afternoon with no reservation and it was empty so I think you'd be able to get an ADR fine. And call them directly if you can't get it online.

We have eaten at the T-Rex the past few summer vacations and we thought it was ok. The food was good and we would definitely go back. My DH, DS and DS's friend had that dessert the Chocolate Extinction. OMG that thing was bigger than big. They liked that the most.:rotfl: My eyes are sensitive so I make sure to request that we not be seated in the blue room (I think it's the Ice Age room but not sure). We sat in the meteor room which was cool when they had a meteor shower. We also sat in the main dining area and that was pretty cool as well because you can see all of the things that are going on.

That sounds fun! All the kids would LOOOOVE the meteor room! :thumbsup2 When I said a BIG group I meant all 17 of us lol. Its a GG and though there will be mostly adults, we all love RC. I think all 5 of the kids will adore T-Rex! Thanks everyone!
