has anyone been? what's it like? ds wants to go there for his tea on his birthday, we had planned on hard rock cafe but ds thinks t rex would be cool, he will be 14. do they do birthday cakes? any info would be great. :thumbsup2

I went in December, it was fab. :thumbsup2 Great food & atmosphere, your son will love it! It is very much like the Rainforest Cafe if you have been there.

I don't know about cakes but I am sure they will do them. Someone on here (can't remember who) had the direct phone number for reservations so you could call & ask when you make your reservation.

My friend went and said it was fab!!!

That would be me or Michelle. The number is 00 1 407 828 8739 and I believe I am right in saying they take reservations up to 6 months in advance. They do say on their menu (PDF link) that "celebrations are welcome" so I'm sure they will do a cake for you.

Yep spot on David 6 months, but don't forget to phone 0844-8617878 first (this will make sure you only pay 1p per minute).Pause for a recorded message then phone the trex number and press # at the end :thumbsup2 .They asked when i made our reservation if we were celebrating anything-but if they don't ask make sure you tell them.x.

(Not long now David :cool1: .x.)

I'll pop this over on the UK Trip Planning forums, where I'm sure someone will be able to help you :)

We called in to look around just after it opened, way too noisy and busy. Our 14 year old was not interested in eating there but older he gets more dressy he gets. He is wanting to get a Tux or a nice suit for this August for the cruise.

We visited twice during our November trip - once to eat and once just for a drink. We had to abort our first attempt as it was absolutely mobbed - just fighting our way through the waiting hordes outside to take a look was an ordeal. We figured it may be quieter at lunchtime and so headed back there the next day. It was virtually empty when we arrived. We spent quite a bit of time at Downtown Disney this trip and it was the same each time we were in that area - crazily busy during the evenings and more than manageable at lunchtimes. That's been our experience with Rainforest Cafe, too, so I suppose it's not surprising.

Obviously I was aware before we went that this was "Rainforest Cafe with dinosaurs", but, from the photos I'd seen, I wasn't expecting an identical footprint. It's all laid out in precisely the same way - store to the right of the podium, bar to the left and then various "rooms" off that. That's an observation rather than a criticism. The main differences are the open kitchen and the way it's all lit which gives it a distinct feel. Oh, and, in common with RFC, the air con is cranked to the max.

Like RFC, the food is a tad on the expensive side, but plentiful and the menu is pretty similar, too. We didn't want too much as we had a dinner reservation, so each ordered from the starter menu and both were enormous. We had the Colosso Nachos (seasoned beef, pico de gallo, black beans, green onions, cheddar cheese, queso sauce and sour cream) and the Footprints Flatbread (warm flatbread topped with cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan and goat's cheeses, rotisserie chicken and caramalised onions, drizzled with a balsamic glaze). I've never understood the criticisms of the food at RFC and this didn't disappoint, either - both were really good.

We were there 2 weeks ago, it's great! The theming is fab, the servers were great and the food was pretty good too. The have a build a Dino just beside the store and a Dino dig outside too! Highly recommended :thumbsup2

Would this be too scary for a 6 & 5 year old?

I have read some peoples trippies and there children or they have witnessed children around them being scared, screaming, crying etc..when the meteorite shower happens.Only really you would know if your child would be scared.
I am taking my 7+4 year old,Chloe we won't have any trouble with-anything the louder the better with her.But i do have my doubts with Emily,i have still booked this as i know it's something she will thoroughly enjoy if she can get past the noise issue.I have explained it all to her+showed her footage from youtube and she desperatley wants to go.I am hoping that there will be so much going on it may be ok.
Emily's main fear is loud noise(she takes after me)-fireworks-tv+music being too loud.x.

You get a free ice cream for your birthday (the one on the kiddies menu)

My lot enjoy RFC at Disneyland Paris although similarly it gets a fair number of bad reviews.
As a family I though the troops would enjoy this. From Debs photos and review this has sold me on it :thumbsup2 Think we will aim for lunch or an early supper :)
