Is it any good? Too scary for a 3 year old and 5 year old? Or should we just stick to Rainforest Cafe?

We are going there in 1 hr for lunch for the first time--so I will let you know when we get back later.

Depends on your children. There are some reports of toddlers being afraid. If they are scared of darkness and loud noises, might want to put it off for awhile.

We just went with our 23 month old, and he really enjoyed it! They have rooms that are less scary that I would imagine you can request. Food was good - just like Rainforest Cafe.

My 4 year old was a little nervous at first and during the meteror showers, but liked it otherwise. My 5 year old was so terrified that she wouldn't even order food and stayed under our table the whole time.

To me . . .It really depends on your children. My 2 1/2 year old wasn't afraid at all. But she is also not afraid of fireworks or thunderstorms. On the other hand, I remember when my oldest son was the same age and he was much more sensitive to noises. I do think he would have been a bit afraid. I personally don't think its any more "scary" than the Rainforest Cafe. Just different animals.

We were there today for lunch and were in the corner of the coral reef room near the bar. It was not loud lik I was expecting. It was really pretty and the server we had was great! He also told us that as of January 5, they would be taking all the discounts, AP, DDE, and Safari Club. We were not near any of the dinos but we were facing them and could see lots of them moving during the meteor storm. I did find it a little bit difficult to see when the ice room was blue. It was really pretty in there, but just hard to see.

Rainforest Cafe has never taken DDE/TIW. Yak & Yeti never took it either and I am not sure T-Rex will start being the only Landry's restaurant that accepts it. Might be nice if they did.

My 4 year old freaked out and was screaming get me out of here. I will add we eat at Rainforest all the time. so the scare factor is way higher here. We couldnt even order we had to leave.

We were just there for lunch two weeks ago and I can definitely see that it could be scary for some younger children. We had just flown in that morning, gone to our room at SSR and took the boat to DTD to get our annual passes. We were very hungry and able to get a table at T-Rex right away. The food was quite good. I loved my sandwich (grilled chicken, avocado, bacon, tomato on grilled pizza dough). It was actually enough for two.
Back to the atmosphere. It's very, very loud which can add to the discomfort level for younger children. After the novelty wore off it bothered us.
