No, I don't mean "toliet paper." I mean Treasure Planet. This is a just for fun petition. I wouldn't know how to send this to Disney or anything. If you do, be my guest. :)

So... who wants a Treasure Planet Revival?!?!
(This could be just re-relesing it or another movie or whatever)

*raises hand* MEEE! But don't make Jim look different! I  Jim!

Thank-you! Anyone else?? (You know you want to... :p)

btw that makes me wonder (If T.P. had another movie... [wink wink nudge nudge to disney]) if Jim would grow back his ponytail thing...

*pokes tag innocently*

:rolleyes1

(I think his academy look is pretty hot, too. The braid's nice, but if this hypothetical sequel took place while he was still in, it's not likely he'd still have it. hehe. Delbert doesn't look very good at the time of Jim's graduation. xD)

Anyway, I think that a new Treasure Planet movie would be the coolest thing since The Incredibles, especially now that what's-his-face is in charge and decreed that there would be no more sucky sequels cranked out every six months, tarnishing Disney's name and ruining perfectly good classics. Remember how he scrapped the Tinkerbell movie when it was half finished and made them start over because he didn't think it was up to par? Whether or not that movie's any good remains to see, but still. At least there's some quality control going on now, and really-- this is one of the Pixar guys, who are known for nothing if not high-quality, story-driven animated movies.

So a TP movie in the past would have probably made me nervous-- excited, yeah, but still very nervous. If the demand had been high enough, they'd have thought nothing of throwing together a stupid, cut-and-paste video sequel, comlete with hideous animation and a pitiful story, one that would have been cringe worthy and totally NOT worthy of following up TP, and released it to get a few hundred-thousand dollars off of the parents of preshoolers who'll buy anythign that says 'Disney' no matter how badly it sucks. But now? If they announced a Treasure Planet sequel, I would be freaking out, I'd be so friggin' happy. That would the coolest thing *ever.*

But, uh... the demands not so high now. And he sort of said that there won't be any new sequels at all... but I'm not sure about that quote. Maybe he meant no stupid sequels churned out for money. A Treasure Planet sequel would be well justified, considering what happened to the movie itself. It needs some redemption, don't you think? That could be a great angle for producing a sequel, sort of solidify their presence in the studio or whatever. I dunno what the politics of Disney are like now. haha.

Actually, funny thing is, a few months ago I had a petition and a companion website aiming to get more attention drawn to the movie by Disney in the works, and almost got them started. The idea was to ultimately get some representation in the parks (y'know, a ride, a restaurant, characters, merchandise, etc.) or a sequel or something like that, and it may have been a pipe dream, but I think that if there were enough interest generated, the possiblity's always there. ::yes::

And yeah, I know that online petitions almost never work, but it's still fun to dream. And I do kinda think that they'd be open to something like this-- if enough people would buy it. Because in the end, even if Treasure Planet was a labor of love, well-crafted and definitely art, Disney would only put the effort and expense into producing sequels and toys and such from a movie (particularly one that got stuck with such a lousy track record as TP did) if they knew, unequivecally, that there would be customers to buy these. That's what it all comes down to when you're a Disney accountant or executive, so what *we* need to do, if we'd ever like to have these, is probably just to make the fanbase bigger!

--lol I probably soud a like a religious fanatic. BELIEVE IN TREASURE PLANET AND THOU SHALT BE SAVED!!!!1!! I'm not that crazy. ^^--

Treasure Planet has a lovely fanbase; maybe not the biggest one, but they sure are devoted. All TP really needs to gain in popularity is people-- show it to your family, show it to your friends, have them show it around. It's a good movie! People like it, and I'd guess that 70% percent of the fans didn't see it first run, and barely knew it existed until they saw it once and fell in love. Spreading the TP love until we got to full-blown "cult following" status would be the way to go, I think. If they started getting tons of inquiries about Morph plushies at WDW stores, what do you think they're going to do?

Anyway.... uh, sorry for rambling, but definitely count me in on any Treasure Planet-type shenanigans! :woohoo:

^ Wow, Ampris. :p

I really liked TP. I thought that it was a good movie that didn't get the respect it deserves, like several of my favourites. A sequel would be nice, it was left open enough that it could happen. :goodvibes

Back at cha Ampris. LOL just kidding :P

I totally agree. And I would SO buy a morph stuffie

And yes, it so needs redemtion. I remember I was younger when it came out and loved it. Some random person on TV was talking about how TP bombed at the box office. I just didn't get it. All my friends and I thought it was great... lol

However, sadly there is something to be said that disney has done the story Treasure Island to death, now that I can see more of the situation with slightly older eyes :) still sad though

-Slightly random- I rediscovered TP about three months ago. It had been essentially gathering dust in the DVD cabinat. I got bored so I picked a random movie, which happened to be TP. I watched it again and rediscoved my love for it -espcially since alot of my friends have similar family problems to Jim :(-

Just doing my part to help the cause. LOL.

Omg you must!! -After all, we've got to "expand the fanbase" LOL-

It's Treasure Island on steriods :p :lmao:

Except steroids aren't as much fun. 8D

And I'd check video rental stores, too. Some chains have free (or pretty cheap) kid-movie rentals, and you can watch all of the special features. (Which, I must say, kick all kinds of derriere. )

And yes! Expand! Set the plan into glorious motion! For lord and country!

(Or another pin set and some plushies. Whatever. :teeth:)

lol I'll see if it's on On Demand or something. If not, I'll run out to Blockbuster sometime this week.

It probably won't be on demand, but you can try :) . The movie is like six years old LOL.

Which makes me think... I wonder how they would get a voice for Jim. Whoever did his voice is probably too old-sounding now :p
But let us not think about the too-practical side :p

Ooh, try eBay. I got Morph and B.E.N. eight-inch plushes for Christmas one year, and that's where they came from. And whenever I go there, just generally looking for TP stuff, there're usually a few Morphs. Some are little ones from The Disney Store, some are larger ones from the same, and there's this really nice one from Macy's that's huge and even makes sounds. See if you can't win one sometime! :D

Well, I guess that's true, but it wouldn't be another retelling of the story; rather than the TI story, it'd just be a continuation of Treasure Planet, with these specific character interpretations and tihs universe and (presumably) a different plot. So I don't know if that'd be a huge problem... possibly, though. You never can tell. :O

Simple: just pick anyone but Haley Joel Osment. (PLEASE.)

lol. Well, I guess who they'd pick would depend on when this new story took place-- maybe Jim would already be long-graduated from the academy, a captain of his own ship or rising through the ranks in the Royal Navy. Maybe an adult voice might even work better! That'd be cool, I think, since they'd be able to use the same guy and preserve the continuity. ::yes::

(sure, the question remains whether or not he'd do it... I don't know if he's still acting or what, but it's always posible. Maybe he'd even like the chance to reprise the role. :D)

(sure, the question remains whether or not he'd do it, but --no offense intended at all-- he's not exactly an A-list actor. :| Not saying that's a bad thing, but while I wouldn't expect Will Smith or someone to do a straight-to-video sequel to a Disney movie, but I dunno if JGL would be in the same situation. Maybe he'd even like the chance to reprise the role. :D)

Maybe so :upsidedow . Lord knows it's the only thing I've ever seen (heard :p) JGL in :lmao:

The only other anything I know he was in was "Third Rock From the Sun," a sitcom from the Nineties. I bet if they made the sequel seem attractive enough, I'd think he might be interested. ::yes::

Prehaps so :). Since he's not an a-list actor, he will probably want the work :lmao:

(slightly random) I wonder if silver would come back...

Man, I hope so. I don't think anyone else could capture his voice, his character so well. My brother does a hilarious caricature-Silver voice, but I don't think a parody or joke-y take on his voice would be good at *all.*

(awww... I was about to ask if you thought they could get Roscoe Lee Brown back, but the I remember he passed away last year. RIP. :sad1:)
