I had a lesson learned from the preachings of Vernon this week ;). Vernon has been on me for awhile to quit drinking so much soda ( I have about 3 or 4 at work and 2 at night). So over the weekend I did a detox diet to get rid of the water retention from the soda and the caffine. I lost 4 pounds over the weekend and 2 during the week. I have been drinking mostly water since Saturday. So yes when they say drink lots of water it does help :o .

How did everyone do this week?

As a new plant breaks the ground with great difficulty... so must we sometimes push against difficulty in bringing forth our dreams.

Well done honey.

Nothing happening for me this week :( , I think I went the opposite way to Jana and toxed myself up with a heavy night out on Wednesday ( quick one after work and I'll get the 6.16, got home at 11.30 after 8 pints, two large seabreezes and a curry :) ) , I've also injured my knee at the moment and can't do any exercise :( which is a REAL PAIN as I'd like to see how the medicine I'm taking helps in weight lose but not being able to do any exercise makes it rather difficult. Doesn't look like it's going to heal up any time soon either so this could be a slow few weeks :(

Poor Vernon:rolleyes:

I've heard that excuse before - just a quick one - I'll get the next train!!!

I lost 3 lbs this week!

Jana, well done on your detox, I might give that a try!

Vernon - sorry to hear about your knee, how did you injure it? I know how it feels as I have my foot slowing me down!

Alison - well done! What diet are you following?

Even though I can't do much in the way of exercise, I lost another 2 pounds this week, so that's 9 pounds lost in total, half way now to my 'summer weight'! :D

Well done Alison and Mazzy.

I don't know how ( or what ) I've done to my knee, I'm having physio at the moment, if that doesn't work( which it isn't) I'll have to have a cortisone (sp) injection to bring down the swelling and if that doesn't work to see a surgeon about doing a bit of reconstruction :(

Vernon, it sounds as though we are having the same problems! My foot doesn't seem to be progressing very well. I will be talking to the surgeon on Wednesday to see what he has to say about giving me exercise which have made things worse!

I hope the injection does the trick for you, and you don't need surgery.

I guess these things are sent to try us aren't they? :D

Mazzy, have they checked you for gout? I worked with a girl that had similar problems with her foot and they found it to be due to gout.

Hi Jana

No, it's not gout. It's inflammation of the sesamoid bones, which are in the base of the big toe. I have been diagnosed, but the surgeon and podiatrist couldn't agree on what type of insert I needed for my shoe so the surgeon decided to refer me to NHS to get what he wanted. I have actually just come off the phone and have managed to bring my appointment forward a week, to next Tuesday, to be measured for the special insole, so in about 2 or 3 weeks I should have something I should have had weeks ago! It's 5 months now since it all started and getting beyond a joke!

I really hope Vernon managed to get his kneee problem resolved more successfully than I am doing with my foot! :D

Mazzy, the girl I worked with had a hair line crack in her sesamoid bone on one foot and they couldn't get it to heal. Then she went to a specialist that said it was gout. They put her on the meds for it and her foot healed up. She had to were a special shoe/brace type thing for over a year until she went to the specialist and was back in a regular shoe in about 2 months after being diagnosed.
That is why I suggested you ask them about it.

Hi Jana

Well my specialist has taken an xray of my toe and there is no break, apparently, it's inflammation. So are you saying that the girl had sesamoid fracture AND gout in the same toe? I had been on anti-inflammatories for 2 months in Jan/Feb and I think that is the same medication they give you for gout. I don't just have pain in my toe, I also have it in the ball of my foot, which is a classic sign of sesamoiditis apparently.

home at 11.30 after 8 pints, two large seabreezes and a curry

Vernon.....you've gone up in my estimation! - LOL
