We are leaving to go home on thanksgiving day and have a 4pm flight. That means we will have until about 2pm to do something like resort hop, go to DTD, or swim at POR. We would like to have a decent lunch time meal as it will be our T day dinner and I want to make sure and have a good meal for the kids (ages 7&4) that is a little above your basic fast food before we leave.

I'd like to leave our plans pretty open so we can decide to sleep in if we want, swim if the weather is nice, or whatever. That is why I didn't make any PS. WDW is requiring a cc guarentee with a 48 hour notice to cancel on T day. Where at the resorts or DTD would you suggest for us to try? It wouldn't necessarily have to be sit down or traditional thanksgiving fare.

Why not do a late character breakfast at Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Fare? You could also head to Rainforest Cafe or Beaches and Cream.

Do all the restaurants need the CC guarantee that day? I strongly suggest that you have some sort of PS that day or you will be in the food court. Most of the big high demand places are booked already and it will be crowded. I speak from experience here. We ended up the character buffet at the Dolphin/Swan in the convention center. It was nice, the food was good but not my idea of Tday dinner.

Thanksgiving at Disney is not a good day to leave open as far as dining unless you want to limit yourself to counter service. I'd suck it up and commit to a dining time. The 2 character meals I suggested might not even be available. I suggested B&C as they don't take PS. Are you looking for traditional Thanksgiving food? I didn't get that from your post. I don't know what to suggest in DTD, but I would not return to Planet Hollywood or Bongo's. They were mediocre at best. What about room service?

We went last year at this time and I also want to stronly recommend you make a ps somewhere if you want a sit-down meal.

If you really just do not want to make a PS, then I'd suggest that you try the restaurant at POR. It isn't generally one of the most popular restaurants, and I believe I read somewhere recently that it is going to be open for lunch on Thanksgiving, even though it isn't usually. You could go there first thing in the morning and see if there are any times when you'd be able to get a seat without too much of a wait. I wouldn't set your heart on it, though.

To clarify, we don't necessarily HAVE to have a sit down meal on thanksgiving day. We have several sit downs & character meals scheduled during our trip The CM told me that a cc guarentee w/ 48 hour notice to cancel is required for all PS on T day. I have a PS at Boatrights for breakfast that morning but would like to get a decent, non burger & fries type counter service lunch at either DTD or one of the resorts. Something like the Pepper Market at CSR except CSR is sort of out of the way and we would have to make a special trip specifically to go there. We will have turkey and trimmings on Friday with our extended family once we get home. Since this is our departure day, I'm trying to leave our plans very flexible so we can do whatever it is that we feel like doing on our last day.

Then I would just eat there at the Food Court, or go resort hopping and go to Pepper Market, or go over to AKL to Mara. I don't know how crowded DTD will be that day but I think the only thing for a casual lunch would be Wolfgang Puck express.

I second Karel's suggestion. My other thought would be take-out. Perhaps a restaurant that had a long wait for seating would offer that option.
