T-Day Cruisers 2011, November 19-26th, 2011

Just made the final payment yesterday!! Also, booked the Kayak, Hike & Snorkel of Cas Cay for the 3 of us - guess that's a popular option.

Lori, I would love the Thanksgiving cruise graphic too! Our last name is Shaughnessy. Thanks so much!

The kayak excursion sounds great, but I can't imagine the hike part would work well with DD5. I really need to find an excursion my group can do. I'm generally wary of the ones not offered by Disney because I'd hate to choose one that doesn't get me back to the boat in time or worse.

I think you needed to be at least 8 for this excursion. Other excursions we've done in St. thomas were the Water Island Bicycle Ride (great, but you had to be 10) and the St. John Eco Hike (also good, but I think there was an age minimum on that too.)

I would definitely recommend setting up an excursion for St. Thomas. There are supposed to be 8! cruise ships there that day, and we are tendering. I would recommend doing one of the St. John's beach excursions, or even the St. John Island tour. A 5 year old may also like Coral World.

Just catching up....haven't booked any excursions yet, thinking about going on our own for the port calls. One of the things on my "bucket list" is to go to the beach at the approach end of the St. Maarten airport and watch a few planes land....not too sure if the family will share my interest.

Other than that we still undecided on the FE, but it sounds like the group is small and manageable Have we established a deadline to join?

Thanks and can't wait!!!!

Hi Mike, it looks like we're neighbors. How many others on these boards do you think are from Newtown too. I've got older kids, a senior and a freshman at North this year. Maybe we know each other?

Lauri

Hey Lauri! I just noticed that! Too Funny. Our kids are younger, 5th and 1st graders at Goodnoe. I do have a niece who is a freshman at North this year, however. So I can't think of any Laurie's that I know, but I wouldn't be surprised if we know some folks in common.

Mean Queen! I am turning 40 on November 2nd. This is my birthday present to myself and a surprise to the rest of my family!

Just found out we are joining you! DH was surprising me with this as a 40th birthday present but DCL beat him to it by sending the cruise information to our house in my name, even though he told them to not send anything to our house and had the reservations in his name. This will be our 8th Disney cruise. We did the Thanksgiving one in 2009 and loved it. We had booked last year but moved that to the Dream this past March for Spring Break. Thanksgiving on the cruise is amazing. I had two lobsters for my Turkey day dinner! I am really looking forward to doing it again. Especially since we haven't done this itinerary yet. There is at least one other family joining us.

Welcome aboard. How do you keep this big of a secret?

Ha ha! It is not easy. I am planning to wait until the first week of November to let my husband know.

I am a blogger & travel writer so I do go on a few press trips each year. I just told my husband to get the time off of work.

Trying to figure out exactly how to spring it on my family is really a huge part of the fun!

Thanks for the welcome! :)

I would love for us to do the whole fish extender thing if anyone else is interested. We did it last time and had alot of fun with it. We gave out pirate domino sets one day and jacob ladders another. We mixed it up with some adult stuff too..!

I am definitely interested in taking part if you guys want to do this. My kids would love this.

Has this already been set up?

Is it part of this thread?

Nope! I am the same way. Looking forward to a lot of family time AND a lot of alone time with the husband. :)

Welcome aboard! The FE is a lot of fun for the kids and adults.

I hope I'm not the only parent who is looking forward to the opportunity to get away from their kids for a bit on the cruise. DD12 wants to get on her own the minute we get on the ship and DD5 looks through the navigator to plan out when we need to take her to the club. So they seem to equally want to be away from us. We still get a lot of family time, but for DH and I it's the rare chance to get a lot of couple time too.

Scooby - I would LOVE the Thanksgiving cruise graphic for the Connerty family if you can do one.

Who does magnets for the doors? Lori? Do we pay now or when we get them?

Mean Queen! I am turning 40 on November 2nd. This is my birthday present to myself and a surprise to the rest of my family!

Stacie - that is a great birthday gift to yourself. We did a surprise cruise for the kids last year and didn't tell them until it was time to get in the car. We had packed all of their clothes and just told them to grab anything they needed. I don't think I could have surprised DH though since it'd be hard to pack for him.

I read your report about your terrifying excursion experience. I can't imagine going through that. I'd be afraid to get off the boat again.

Oh my gosh... went to see Sir Elton John last night here @ bethel woods. All I can say is that he was amazing!!! Sorry just had to share!! My little slice of heaven in an pretty tense week around here.

We are doing the Full day Sail and snorkel to turtle cove and honeymoon beach in St. Thomas and probably just taking a cab over to Maho Beach in St. Martin for a few hours. It doesn't seem as though there are alot of excursions there? I heard St. Bernards tours were pretty good.. Anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome StacieinAtlanta! Being a travel writer must be fun and exciting! Glad you are joining us!

We are so going to that beach too. My oldest DS is a pilot and is about to start his commercial training. We are kind of excited about getting knocked on our butts....:lmao:

We have not established a deadline yet, but I've been thinking about it. If the group stays small, it will be great. I've been in a group of 70 cabins, so anything under 20 is super small.

I am definitely interested in taking part if you guys want to do this. My kids would love this.

It's been set up. Right now it is on an off-site list. I have been neglectful on page 4, but I'll update it now. If you PM me your info, I'll add it on. Here's what we're looking for. Everyone's names in your group, ages (for age appropriate gifts for those doing that), email address. Then I will send you the link to see the document.

Here's your graphic.

Also, for the surprise, if anyone wants it, here is a graphic that I've done for cruises and WDW.

You really are too kind and very talented!!! Thank you! Would love the cruise tickets for our family...

And I think you guys are referring to Maho beach too! I have stayed not too far away in St. Martin and have watched many people roll into the water...:rotfl: too funny!!

I am a little afraid. It has taken me two years to even consider getting back on a ship again. And incidentally, this cruise will be the two year anniversary. The exact day will be when we are in St. Thomas, I believe.
