Any Ideas on what to buy my son's T-Ball Head Coach for an end of season gift. One of the mom's has collected about $50.00 from the parents and we are looking for an idea.
Please offer suggestions :)

We usually get upto $100 or $150 and give Gas Cards. Every bit helps.... :thumbsup2

We usually get a gift card to a sporting goods store- it's always a "hit" :thumbsup2

We take a team picture, enlarge it, have all the kids sign the matte, stencil 'Thanks Coach' along the bottom, and frame it.

gift cards, target, walmart great to replace some of their own resources they've put into it...

We usually do GCs to restaurants or sports stores. We had 2 teen coaches this season & gave them VISA GCs to use anywhere.

We always did sporting goods store GC too, and sometimes homemade cookies as well.

We got the soccer coach a gift card...but I can't remember to where.

How about a gift card and then a ball that all the kids sign...that would be fun for the kids too, just like the major leaguers do!!

We donate the money to Curing Kids Cancer: www.curingkidscancer.org
The coach gets a nice tshirt, a certificate and a letter. The local children's hospital receives a donation to help in the fight against childhood cancer. The coaches where I live love it!

gift cards can be a great idea, but make sure you ask before you buy them. I have gotten gift cards before that people spent a lot of money on that I was never able to use.

We do a gift certificate to a nice restaurant as a thank you to him and his wife. The poor wife put up with all those rushed dinners and nights out. This way they both have a nice relaxing dinner.

My husband and I both coach and one year our team bought 4 tickets to our minor league team and money for snacks and souveniers. Our family had a wonderful time doing this. It was a great evening.

:thumbsup2

I know everyone means well with their gifts, but the best gift my husband ever got while he was coaching was a personal letter from one of the girls. She had written about how much fun she had, what she learned, etc. He still talks about that letter years later, but I've never heard him mention the material gifts he received.

You can re-gift them. Go to the place they are from, and request a new gift card for the same amount or even split a big gift up into smaller gift cards for more people. One of my kids got a Best Buy gift card for $25 for her birthday. She was saving up for a digital camera and wanted to put the $25 toward the camera - but, didn't want a camera from Best Buy. I bought the card from her and will exchange it for a new card (because this one has the to/from lines filled out) and we will regift it for Christmas to somebody else. Heck, we might even save it and just regift back to the same kid since her name is already on the giftcard holder. :rotfl:

You could do a small team album and then put the gift card in that- Our team didn't collect for one gift so I needed something that wouldn't cost alot- I made an album that cost me about $10-12 which fit right into my budget but could be done cheaper (I just get a little carried away with scrapbooking stickers).
I bought a small photo album ($1 from big lots) :thumbsup2 that had plastic cover. I put a 4x8 piece of paper inside the cover (to hide the ugly gray album  ) with a big soccer ball, the league, team name and season on it.
Then on the inside put pictures of all of the kids (7 on our team)-
1st page was a team photo
Then ie Shirley #2 by herself - I decorated the pages with soccer balls, shoes and put a star on each one- and then the facing page was an action shot of her and I repeated this for each child.
After the team was done I put a blank 4x6 card (decorated the edges) and Put Thank You Coach Matthew across the top and had each child write their names.
Then I put pictures of action shots of the coach with the kids giving them instructions, etc. The last page was a picture of the coach's wife with a little phone sticker and a special thanks for all of her work-
As a little extra, behind the name card I put 2 coupons for the 5 free 2 L of coke - wonder where I got those :rotfl: - and instructions to tell the grocery clerk!
The Coach said he'd gotten many gifts over the years, but this was the most special- It made me feel good to give something unique and that didn't break my budget!

My DH coached tee ball and I was the team mom. The team went in and got us a $50 GC for Outback Steakhouse. We became pretty good friends with one of the asst. coaches and they are going to watch our kids one night so we can go out. I also had all the kids sign a tee-ball and we gave that to him too. At each game, we hand out a game ball. The kids always had fun trying to guess who would get it. The last game ball was the one that was signed and we handed it to him.

My coaching husband has received small gift cards that have never been used. $10 to Dicks Sporting Goods, and 10 to Outback. $10 does not go far in either place, so make sure it's a place that they can get a lot of the amount of the card.

Definately do the signed baseball!! He loves those!

I think someplace like Target would be great or a nice dinner, just make sure they like the place you get it from.

A Barnes and Noble gift certificate may be nice. He may be able to pick up a nice book for summer reading or magazines. There is always the cafe as well if he wants a special coffee etc.
