I noticed on the Stevesoares website that the Sword in the Stone ceremony is closed this week. Anyone know if it will be running again in a couple of weeks? My kids love that movie, I would love to see it!

16 days til WDW, I can't wait!!!!! :hyper:

Just when you think you know everything there is to see at WDW! What is the Sword in the Stone ceremony? What park is it at?

More details please!

Hi,
We got to watch Merlin's little show on our trip in Jan. 2002. It was very cute. He is humorous and he invites a few kids from the small audience to try and pull the sword from the stone. The "show" takes between 5 and 10 minutes and there are no seats. You just stand and listen to and watch him. When we watched, there were maybe only 20 people standing around watching. The stone is located right by Cinderella's Golden Carousel. I have no idea if there are scheduled times of the show. We just happened to stumble onto it and the kids really enjoyed it.

That sounds so cool! I'm gonna check Deb's site to see if she has anymore info!

There are posted times for the show on the guide you get at the front of the park - same one that lists the parade times.

It is a cute show hope you get to see it.

cool! I have to look at that schedule more closely!

We were lucky enough to have my son chosen as the 'sword puller-outer' this past April. We were standing around by the carousel when Merlin came out to sign autographs, etc, right after they announced the show would be starting soon. Instead of crowding around him, we stood RIGHT in front of the stone/sword area and when he moved to start the show, we were front and center. It was starting to rain, so he only chose 1 person to try pulling out the sword - and my son was it!

He went up and tried to pull it out before Merlin wanted him to, and stopped. Oops.

Anyways, he did pull it out and got a 'temporary ruler of the realm gold medal' to hang around his neck for the day (he cherises that) and a certificate.

It was great!

Say it isn't so!

My DD5 almost cried when I told her that IASW is closed when we go, and now the Sword in the Stone ceremony is also on hold?

We leave in 2 weeks, and she is determined to pull the sword out and be "queen." Has anyone recently come back? Did you see the ceremony?

Help!

When we were there in the beginning of April it was closed also.

My son was very disappointed!:(

It was on the daily schedule a couple weeks ago when we were there, though we didn't actually see it happen. I think it was scheduled 3-4 times a day, on specific days.

Whatever you do, just don't cross over Merlin's invisible rope!!! He is very territorial :hyper:

OMG! I forgot about the invisible rope. Thanks for revamping my memory. That was too funny.

My DD asked me if the ceremony was still held today as we were riding Cinderella's Carousel, so we checked the times guide and it is NOT listed this week. By the way, the MK was mobbed today. Crowds had not been bad June 4 through Sunday, but today it seemed to be wall to wall people.
