My DS6 saw somewhere that at the MK, there is a "sword in the stone" show or exhibition each day? Has anyone heard of this? We leave in 10 days...just can't wait! :jumping4: :jumping4: :jumping4:

i have heard of it. i thought for a long time that it would pull out maybe if i pulled on it randomly. you have to go to the ceremony and i think that it is listed on the times schedule although im not sure. but you have to be there at the ceremony. although ive never actually mad it there yet.

Yup, there is a ceremony/show. It is right in front of the carousel. On the Snow White/ Cinderella castle side. THe times will be listed on the show times sheet. Merlin comes out, and does some magic and is looking for the 'one who can pull the sword. It is not a long show....maybe 10 minutes, but its cute! :earboy2:

If you are ever passing the stone when the show is not going on, let your kids try and lift the sword! They may get a surprise!

I wanted to go in the gift shop right by Snow White, so my DH said he would stay outside with my DS (4 at the time!). Well, when I came out my husband was beaming with the biggest grin and obviously had something he wanted to tell me.

Apparently, a bunch of kids (and some adults) had been taking turns trying to pull the sword out of the stone with no luck. So my son wanted to give it a try, so he stood in line and when he got up there he pulled hard and then repositioned himself and pulled with all his strength and the sword came up. Can you say "Magical Moment". From the look on my DH face you would have thought that he really pulled the sword out using his own strength!!

Give it a try...you never know!

We were at DL at the end of a long week, a Friday morning about 11. My boy was tir-red, and didn't even want to go to the ceremony-and he's a sword FREAK! We nibbled our churro, and, since we were right outside the castle wall, I eventually said, "Let's wander by there to see." He was playing with the sword when Merlin walked up and roped off that area. I thought about dropping a word in Merlin's ear, but didn't want to be one of those pushy, insufferable pain in the pants types that I'm sure he encounters regularly, so left it up to fate.

The plot is simple; they need a temporary ruler of the realm. He picks a burly young stud from the crowd who, of course, can't make it budge. Then he picks, in this case, my son, who was successful, crowned, and given a nice parchment and medallion. Talk about instant mood shift, everyone we passed for the rest of the day knew what happened to him.

I didn't have my camera, which may have worked in our favor, since it wasn't just a photo op for Dad, but we've seen it once since then, and he was picked again for the cameras. Both times we were front and center, but I don't know that they always pick from that spot or not. It's really cool if it is, although I wouldn't rush there from the other side of the park.

Cheers.

My DS was picked for the temp ruler. Seems that Merlin picked him prior to the start of the show. We got there very early, DS was very well behaved and did not yell and scream "pick me pick ME". He had his hair done earlier that morning in the barber shop...green color added to his hair, that also seemed to draw Merlin's attention to him. Anyway, we all loved it! He got a certificate, medal, and Merlin ONLY gives autographs to his temp ruler and any other young kids in his group. They love that they got such a rare autograph! Great show, lots of fun! :earboy2:
