Switching to Intimate! Maybe...

My fiance and I are currently deciding if we want to switch to an intimate (to cut costs, have a nicer honeymoon, etc. etc.) We would like to have dinner after the ceremony (probably at Citrico's, Jiko or Califronia Grill). We are planning on having 18 guests at the ceremony, but we would like to invite a few more to join us to hang out in the parks, and go to our wedding dinner with us (they are totally okay with the idea). My questions are:
- Is it okay to have more than 18 guests at your wedding dinner?
- Also, can you skip the cake cutting ceremony after the wedding and cut the cake at dinner? (I think I'd rather have cake after dinner than before - if possible...? :confused3 )
Sorry if these questions have already been answered in previous posts...
Thanks everyone!

With an Intimate, you are personally organizing the dinner after the Intimate Wedding, you can have as many people as you want. Same as anyone else calling up the restaurant/ADR and making a reservation for 18+ people. Dinner reception are not part of an Intimate Wedding.

I don't know about skipping the cake cutting but I don't see a reason why Disney could not deliver the cake to the restaurant of your choice, if that is what you want.
You should check with DFTW on this one though. There may be limitation to where they will deliver the cake. GF restaurants may be the only places.

The problem I see is with photography. If you are using Disney then they may not be willing to split the hours of coverage.

Some external vendors may charge you extra for splitting the hours.

Hi! :wave2:

An Intimate can be a great choice if you are ok with having the limit of 18 guests at your ceremony. And you do have the option to dine in the resort restaurants in your wedding attire and even attend an Illuminations dessert party afterwards - AND have as many guests as you want as long as it's after the ceremony!

If you are looking for a private dining option, I would look into booking the Sonoma room at the Califorina Grill. There is a food and beverage minimum - which I do not know offhand, but it is reasonable - but with over 20 people, I don't think you will have any problems meeting it. And if you time it right, you can see the fireworks in the evening!

I am pretty sure that you can skip the cake cutting. They will box it up for you, but you may be responsible for transporting it. Wherever you decide to dine, you can talk to the people at the restaurant directly and see how they can help you with serving the cake.

We are planning our Intimate for this upcoming January. We are having dinner in the private room at Citricos (max. 12 people) and an Illuminations DP afterwards with additional guests joining us.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about going Intimate!

HTH. :joker:

You guys are awesome...thanks for the quick responses! :thumbsup2 I think an Intimate may be the way to go for us.

Keep in mind if you were to do wedding, private dinner and dessert party it would all go toward your minimum expenditure for a custom wedding. If you plan a wedding on a weekday, it could just add up to the $10,000 that is needed for a Custom Wedding. It just depends on the type of event you want and how much you want to do on your own.
