1. is it kosher to have one TA make the ressie, then switch it later?

2. why would you want to do that? do some TAs offer better incentives (room credits, rebates, etc)?

We're always looking to save as much money as possible, but I don't want to offend someone by having them book the ressie then switch to someone else later.

I don't see why not... it would
completely be your choice...

A better deal is a better deal...

from what i've seen, transfering a res made through DCL itself to a TA is easy. transfering from one TA to another TA is hard. DCL probably doesn't mind transfering to a TA because DCL still makes money, but when one TA transfers to another, they're losing that sale.

i don't think anyone's tried transfering from TA to DCL because most TAs offer cheaper rates than DCL itself.

and the reasons i've heard for switching is cheaper rates, credits, rebates, etc.

I wouldn't "transfer" necessarily...

I would call the new TA and make a whole
new resie...
after you have confirmation from new one
I would then call old TA and cancel.

That way, the old TA would maybe think
that you are just cancelling travel plans
and you wouldn't risk "hurt feelings"

As a matter of professional courtesy, most reputable TA's won't takeover a ressie from another TA. That being said, you can cancel a ressie any time up to 60 days out with no penalty and then book with the new TA. When I found out that a different TA was offering a rebate on top of my discount and stateroom credit, I called my TA, AllSeasons, told them about the rebate being offered by the other TA, they told me that they were matching it without me even requesting it. I was told today by Costco Travel that if I didn't like their price, I could transfer back to DCL. You could always do that and then transfer again to someone else. A little more work, but if you're saving quite a bit of money, it might be worth it.

If you transfer a ressie from DCL to a TA after the DCL price has gone up (as is the current sitch), does the TA base their price on the original ressie or on the new higher cost?

They use your current ressie since that is what you booked.
