I know we are crazy first timeRVs and switching resorts may not work for some but that is our plan. We do not want to change our plan but 1). Do we really need new bands for each resort? And 2). Would it be better to just rent a car and move our luggage ourselves or is it easier to let Disney do it? I’m a little concerned about our valuables (which of course we will limit).

1. No you don’t need new bands. They will work automatically for each resort. You’ll receive a check in message via MDE, text or email after each move.
2. Let Disney do it. Your bags will be there before you return from the parks.
3. Your valuables are very safe. Lock your luggage if that helps you feel better.

I don't know why the app wants you to choose bands for each room, but can also confirm it's the same bands the whole time. Also agreed with the other poster that it's easier to let Disney move your bags. <---person who moved hotels FOUR times during a long stay

I agree with the previous posters.

For bag transfer, either call your resort's bell services to have them pick up your bags, or bring them to the bell services stand, yourself. The earlier you can get your bags to bell services, the better the chance you'll have of getting them transferred earlier in the day. When arriving at your new resort, either stop at the new resort's bell stand, or call from the room to request the bags be delivered. As with any baggage handling, a tip is appropriate (on both ends).

The MagicBands are available with each resort stay. There is no cost, when ordered to go with your Disney resort stay, so many guests order new ones, for each stay - either to get a new color/design or to personalize as a remembrance. However, one MagicBand will (should) work at all of your resorts, park entrance, charging, etc., whether for your next trip or other future trips. You do not need a new band for each resort.

There is an option on your reservation to decline magic bands if you really don’t want multiple sets floating around. You could get one set and decline the other two. I personally like getting multiple magicbands and switch them every day. They are linked to your MDE account not your specific resort stay so they would be good for future stays as well.

I definitely wouldn’t worry about Disney luggage transport. They do a great job with keeping your stuff safe. The only issue I’ve had using them is once my bags didn’t come until about 6 o’clock. It had been storming all afternoon and apparently the team will not transfer if lightening is in the area. So if you’re going during hurricane season that’s something to consider. But it’s so convenient I plan to use Disney for my next split stay too.

Do you know why the app wants us to choose bands for each room?

Yes I do. You can order bands for free for each individual reservation. That’s the default behavior as Disney sees each as a separate trip. A person can have multiple bands active for themselves. I take 3 designs with me I can choose from on each trip. So choose a different color or design for each one so you can have different bands to use or just choose to decline them on your 2nd and 3rd reservation.

Once they arrive you can see your different magic bands here.

If you really want to transport your luggage yourself, you could always get a lyft/uber/Minnie Van and bring your luggage to your next resort. That would be much cheaper than renting a car for your stay and you wouldn't have to depend on Disney luggage transfer if you don't want to.

Your MB's link to your information, so all MB's will work equally at all locations. You can get a new MB at each resort stay (and get 3 different styles/colours each) or just decline the MB's at the second and third resorts. Then use the first set for the entire visit.

WE often get Lyft for uber when we opt to move our bags ourselves in the morning. Alternatively, You can get Bell Services to move your bags for you. It is easier to get Bell services to do so but sometimes it takes until later in the evening for your bags to arrive at the next resort. If that would be an issue for you then you need to move the bags yourself or carry a small backpack of essentials with you for the day.

WE have never had an issue with 'valuables' when storing luggage with Bell Services at WDW. We have stayed at most of the resorts multiple times over the years with absolutely zero issues. I wouldn't put a diamond tennis bracelet in there (which I wouldn't 't bring anyway), but I never worry about stuff like my laptop or everyday fashion jewellery.

Enjoy your trip!!! We LOVE split stays!
