We are booked at SSR for our October trip but want to try to switch to Jambo Standard View when the 7-month window opens. Should I cancel our SSR ressie now so that our points will be available to book right at 8am on the day I need to switch or should I wait until that morning to cancel SSR? I'm leaning towards cancelling now.

No! If available on the first day at 7 months then cancel and rebook. You don't want to be left with no reservation. Good luck :)

Supersnoops's procedure is as follows. It works only if you would have to borrow some of the points to make the new reservation if you did not cancel the exisitng one.

1. You need two different browers, e.g. Chrome and Internet Explorer (or use two different computers, e.g., a desktop and iPad). Sign into the DVC Member site with both browsers.

2. On one browser go to your existing reservation, click details, and get to the page where you can start cancellation of the exisitng reservation.

3. On other browser, start to set up your new desired reservation on the first page where you can make reservations and once done click to get to the availability page. If what you want is available, click to get to the next page where your reservation is locked in for 20 minutes and you choose points for the reservation. The points shown will be those left without the ones from the existing reservation. Choose the applicable contract(s) and the Borrow icon should come alive. Click on it to bring up the Borrow window and then do nothing.

4. Return to the other browser and cancel the prior reservation. Do absolutely nothing except the steps needed to complete the cancellation.

5. Return to the other browser and click "Cancel" in the Borrow window. The page will refresh itself and show all your points from the cancelled reservation. Now just continue as you would in choosing contracts and doing all the steps necessary to complete the new reservation within the remainder of the 20 minutes allowed

In step 3, is the "Select this Resort" button live before 8am? That's the only way you can get to the screen that holds the ressie for 20 minutes. Or do you start these steps right at 8am?

We're not being too picky about where we stay for this trip, just wanting to try Jambo this time around. We'd be fine with SSR, OKW or Kidani and they always seem to have availability at the 7-month window for late October.

standard view 'what' - studio or 1 BR? If a studio, the values at Jambo are usually gone well within home field window, standards at both resorts often too for dates i've checked especially during popular times such as October.

I wouldn't dream of cancelling what I had.

We switch at the 7 month window all the time. Just call MS the day of and tell them what you want to do. They do it all if available. They switch your reservation from one to the other. It is quite painless. Do not cancel your reservation, you could very well be left out in the cold...smjj

Jambo is supposed to be done by late May.
i leave jambo on may 14th, figure it will be completed shorty thereafter lol

OT was told it's just a 'soft' rehab, bedding, shouldn't be very intrusive if so.

We switch at the 7-month mark all of the time too and I usually call to make the switch but with the low number of standard view 1-bdrms at Jambo, I thought I would make the switch online at 8am rather than wait to call at 9am.

make sure to post back & let us know how it turns out for you!

Do step 1 and 2 before 8am. Be ready to do step 3 as soon as 8am comes.

I did get our room at Jambo, but not without some technical difficulties.

I logged on to my laptop and brought up the screen to cancel my SSR ressie and on my desktop had the screen ready to book Jambo but at 7:59am, my desktop kicked me off of the page where I had the Jambo reservation teed up and brought me to the dvc member home page. I tried to get back to the page where I could book the Jambo room but no matter what I clicked, my pc just kept refreshing the dvc member home page. I ended up cancelling my SSR ressie on the laptop and using the laptop to book the standard room at Jambo. Clearly, my desktop wasn't happy with me that morning!

Glad you got what you needed. You can do the same thing on just one computer, using 2 different browsers. (Not windows, actual browsers. )
