Switching Resorts with a Package

If I decide to change resorts, can I do that without losing the tickets purchased with the package (and therefore my park reservations)? Or is the entire package canceled and re-booked with new tickets?

Thanks.

That should not cause a cancel/rebook. Your tickets will remain in place.

I am trying to wrap my head around what you are asking here...

If you modify your package to change the resort, then you won't "lose" your tickets, and your park pass reservations will remain intact.

However, modifying is always subject to availability of the original package you booked at the new resort. If a package was a special offer that is not available any more, or is available but not for the specific room/resort you are rebooking to, you can't modify and would have to cancel and book a new package with new package terms. For example, if you had the package with "get two days free" on the tickets, and that offer is not available for the room type you want at the new resort, you would not be able to modify because when you got to "modify" it would show that room at the new resort as unavailable (even though it may still be available under a different package offer or room only). In that case, there is no way to just remove the "room" portion and keep your package tickets with the 2 days free as standalone tickets--you either modify the package to an available room with the original r at a new resort, or cancel and rebook, which removes the old tickets and gives you new ones at the new package price.

If this is overcomplicating things, just ignore me.

Yes, I understand that it is all subject to availability. I am paying cash (Christmas Week--ugh) so I don't expect any discounts to come out. But if a room at another resort that I want becomes available, I would want to switch resorts without losing my park reservations.

We switched our resort reservation a a couple of weeks ago (changed from CBR to BWI) and our tickets and park reservations stayed in tact, no problem at all. We were able to modify our package online and it was seamless.

Not easily. There might be a way to do it if you call in, but it seems like the Swan/Dolphin packages sold through disney are only for very limited room types and package options and so I don't think you could modify online to switch to that package as it is kind of in a separate area on the disney website. Most people book directly through Swan/Dolphin because the rates are better that way too. Maybe it can be done by phone, but you'd probably be better off booking your Swan/Dolphin stay direct from those hotels, buying tickets, and only then cancelling the Disney stay. That way you'd avoid any period of time where your account did not have a valid ticket attached, so would not lose your park passes.

Thank you. We bought the disney park tickets separately from the hotel from an outside company but added it to the MDE. We have CBR reserved but thinking about booking Dolphin after folks informed me that CBR has not been update in more than 10 years and the rooms are very dark and dreary.

sorey I misunderstood—that is not a package then. If you bought tickets separately and added them to MDE, that is not a package, it is a room only reservation. You can cancel the the room at CBR and book a eoom at swan/dolphin without affecting the tixkets.

Sorry. Didn't mean to make it seem like it was a package. Thank you.
