Switching Resorts after day 1-?s

I need help! Ok we have booked POFQ 10-30 to 11-6. (I have not yet sent in my deposit) Because 10-30 is in Reg. season the entire trip is booked as such. Total is $3935.40 including UHP and Silver Package (2 meals etc. per day)

If I switch to POP Century for day 1 and then 7 nights at Wilderness Lodge 10-31 to 11-7 my price is $122.50 for Pop and $$4365.40 for WL for a total of $4487.90. A difference of only $552.50. I get an extra day AND I will be at the WL instead of POFQ. I think that is worth the switching of hotels.

MY question is: What happens when I book POP for one night? Do I need to pack up everything and cart it over to WL or do the resorts do that for you? And Do YOU think I should switch?

Any help would be appreciated.

I would make the switch. POP will transfer your stuff, but it could take quite awhile. My suggestion would be to have one bag that you have all your day 1 things in. THen you don't have to pack all the bags for the switch. I guess it all depends on what kind of a budget you're on. If you can afford the extra costs, then go for it.

Tyler had a great post on this!

He said something to the effect that you leave your packed bags in your room, call the front desk or bell services & tell they you're leaving & to pick up your bags.

You leave for the park(s). At the end of the day, simply go to your new resort. Check in at the front desk. Then you're bags will be sent up to your room.

If you can catch Tyler, I'm sure he'll say it better!

Sounds pretty easy to me! As long as you're not planning on returning early to swim that day. Your new room may or may not be ready that day.

This is exactly what we did on our trip last year. We stayed the first night at ASMu, and then switched to WL for the remainder. We packed just what we needed for that night and next morning in one bag, and left the rest in our trunk. We flew, so this was one of our carry-on bags. We did the transfer ourselves, because with three little kids, I wanted my stuff as soon as I arrived at WL. It went very smoothly. We did express check-out at ASMu, went to Animal Kingdom for the day, and then at 4pm or so we checked into WL. We let the Luggage Service people deal with our baggage there, and it was well worth it! We LOVED WL, and had a great trip! I don't regret doing it that way at all. If you have any questions, let me know! We won't be able to return to WL next trip (2005) because my "little" one is now over 3. We have also been to POFQ, and loved that too - it was our honeymoon. But I would have to say that I'd pick WL hands-down!

Thank You so much for the information. I am going to call WDW Travel this afternoon and make the switch. I was just worried about getting our stuff from one resort to another.

We stayed at POR in Oct 03 and loved it. Wanted to try POFQ, but I would rather stay at WL!! This way I will experience both WL and POP and I have not been to either.

It's very easy to set up a luggage transfer. The night before your resort switch (in your case, the night that you check in), touch the Luggage Assistance button on your phone, and set up an appointment for us to pick up your luggage.

You do not need to be in your room for us to pick up your luggage, all we ask is that it's packed, ready to go, and placed next to the window by the door. It's helpful to have an accurate count of bags (each item counts as one), but an estimate works too.

Your bags will be transferred over to the WL typically between 12:45pm-2:00pm. At the Wilderness Lodge, just give Bell Services a call when you are ready for your luggage. With Bell Services, you will need to be in your room to get your bags.
