Switching resort ressie at 7 month window

Just a question...can this be done? I own at OKW but am considering staying at AKL next November. If I book at OKW at the 11 month window (to be assured a reservation) can I call back at the 7 month window and switch the reservation to AKL? How do they handle that? I don't really want to wait until the 7 month window and then not get a room. It would be for the Tuesday before T-giving till the Tuesday after. Any help is appreciated!

I don't know the answer to that, but it sure is a good question.

Yes, you can if there is availability. You don't give up your old ressie until you have the other one fully booked. Be sure to say that to the MS person several times, especially if you have to waitlist any of your days.

Do you have enough points to hold both reservations without borrowing? That would be the safest way. I'm a person who lost a reservation while the CM was booking something she said was available. The new one was gone, and my original one was lost as well.

I wrote a few letters, and finally the day before we were to leave, a CM called and told me that they had something for us at Vero Beach. I do not think it was the exact type of reservation that I had wanted, but we gladly took it, we really wanted VB not SSR for those last 4 nights! The SSR involved more points, just a few, but they were not put in reservation point status even though we were switching so late.

This is not a story that happens often, but it did, and I now seldom try to change reservations. This happened summer, '07.

We do this often. Always make the home resort reservation earlier so we have a room and then switch out at 7 months. All our points are at SSR so you can see from my signature line that we do switch often, despite the fact that we love SSR. As your planned vacation is during a very busy time be sure to stress to the CM to make sure you don't lose your room.

As well, if not all rooms are available, we are proof that waitlists can work. We have been successful in switching to BWV and BCV for the busy last week of Food and Wine.

As posted you cancel SSR and make a new reservation for AKV.

Anything is possible but getting AKV over Thanksgiving at 7 months may be a tough one.
