Switching Hotel Reservations?

So, the only time we are able to go to Disney is around Pop Warner time. So, I can't get Pop Century as a package our whole visit. I can book some nights, but others would have to be done as separate reservations, which would mess up the dining plan. I can get All Star Sports for the whole time, even though I really don't want to stay there. Should I book All Star Sports and then if Pop opens up, if I understand correctly, I could cancel that and switch to Pop without being penalized as long as it isn't close to the trip date?

Why would booking separate reservations mess up the dining plan? You can book your first reservation as a package with room, dining and all the tickets you need and then book subsequent reservations as room and dining only (you need to call this in. It's called a "ticketless package).

Or, yes, you could book ASSp and keep trying to modify it to Pop. If you modify, you don't need to cancel, so won't be subject to cancellation fees. If you modify within 30 days and your package rate goes down, you may be subject to a $50 change fee.

I would have to book the initial 7 nights as a package deal, and the last 2 nights individually. I was told I had to have at least 2 nights together to get the dining plan. So, I would have 7 nights of dining and 2 without.

So there is availability at Pop for your entire 9 nights? Just not consecutively? If so, call back and ask to speak to Guest Services. They have the ability to override the system which is keeping you from booking the entire 9 nights as one package. Sometimes they say no, but most of the time they will do this.

Have you tried calling to see if they can book a contiguous reservation at Pop? The online booking system has algorithms that sometimes prevent that, but a phone CM can get an agent from Guest Services to help override that problem. I have been able to book a contiguous stay over the phone this way, even though it was impossible online.

Yes, I guess the issue is the room type. So I can stay 7 nights consecutively in one room and then the other 2 nights would have to be in 2 other different types of rooms. I really don't care what kind of room I stay in, just want to stay there. I called and spoke to Disney, they know all about my plight, didn't offer to override anything for me, just said the same thing the website said.

I personally would call one more time, just to make sure by talking to a different agent. All Disney phone agents are not created equal. I wouldn't wait for them to offer me the solution, but instead would ask if an online booking system override would be possible. Typically, the phone CM has to get help from Guest Services for this.

You need to speak with Guest Services, not the frontline reservation CMs. They have no power to do anything except book what you could do on your own.

I just call the main number and ask for guest services or is there a different place I call?

Ah, got it!

Let us know how it goes if you call in and speak with guest services! Good luck!

They were not able to help me get the full 9 nights, but I saw online I could get 8 nights in a row, so booked that and booked the last night in a separate reservation for now. I keep checking and hopefully at some point I can get the full 9 nights in one reservation.

Just an update, I checked as soon as I woke up (I check all day long lol) and saw the same type of room available for my last night. Called right away, they had to get guest services to help combine the reservations, but it is done! So excited. Now I can relax a little bit.
