Switching from Room Only to Package

I reserved our stay room only. Now I would like to have it be a package, so I can add Dining. This was mostly a money issue, since I just booked a few weeks ago for 3/15 through 3/20, which put me inside the 45 day window sooner than I was prepared for.

So when I call to switch, will I have to pay the entire amount, even though I have paid a deposit? Or will I pay the total amount less the deposit already paid (1 night's stay, 400$)?

What should happen is that Disney will cancel your room-only ressie and refund your deposit, you will then have to pay the entire balance of the new package reservation. Room-only ressies and Packages are on 2 different systems so you can't just convert a room-only to package.

Thanks for the quick reply. That is of course not my preferred answer but the answer I suspected I would get. I am budgeting as always so I like to know exactly what to expect to pay.

Be sure that you can book the package before you cancel your room only reservation. You do not want to be left out in the cold with no reservation at all!

Not exactly. The rooms blocked for room-only ressies are kept in a different pool than package rooms. So that room would resort back to the room-only pool. I suggest calling CRO and asking if the resort you're booked in is available for a package booking.

Ok, when you call the DRC the CM will automatically book the package and you don't need to worry about the room not being available. If you have a room only reservation you can ALWAYS convert it into a package. Also, you are able to call and convert it up until 3 days in advance of your arrival. Here is what I would do. Call and book a basic plan package (just the room but in a package format.) That way you would pay in full for just the room on the package. Once you get the $400 refund back on your credit card just call back and modify the basic plan package to include dining and tickets (this can be done no later than 3 days in advance of arrival.) If you used a Pin Code for the room then you will have to book a Magic Your Way Package with a minimum 1 day base ticket. This way you can still book what you want but won't be out the $400 for too long. Happy Booking!
