Hi all...

I currently have 6 nights booked at the Poly during Sept. for free dining. I really wanted Concierge, or at the least, Lagoon view, but as we know, a Garden view is all that is (currently) available during FD.. Not complaining, though!

Well, being the addicted DIS'er that I am... I decided to play around with the #'s some more, and found that I can add a 3 night cruise and switch to 8 nights at Coronado Springs, for approx. $700 more....

The "RATIONAL" part of my brain is saying SWITCH you dork! 11 nights in the Disney "magic" vs, 6 nights... A cruise PLUS a Disney stay...

I was just really "hooked" on staying at a monorail resort this time. and for some reason, although the CSR is beautiful, I'm just not "feeling" it when I look at the resort info.. KWIM? (please don't shoot me all you CSR lovers! )

We will have our own vehicle, which we always use, so we've never used the Disney Bus transportation (but have used the boats.. :cloud9: and of course, the monorail). But I was looking forward to driving less and using Disney transportation more this time around.

Is there any reason why I SHOULDN'T switch my POLY ressie to CSR?

(fwiw: we'll still do the Luau Show at the POLY, and probably even Ohana's still...I have ADR's for both).

My brain says SWITCH.. my heart says POLY! MONORAIL! POLY! MONORAIL!
:sad2:

Words of wisdom?

Ok this is a real dilema! I have stayed at the Poly and its amazing, but i think if I had the option to do a cruise as well, then thats what I'd do. At the end of the day its a bed to sleep in, harsh but true, and it means a longer stay too. i think i would go to CBR, ther's gonna be a next time for the Poly right?

My dream would be to stay at the Poly but my pocketbook doesn't have the same thoughts as I do. So...last year, we decided to book a stay at the CBR which had a similar atmosphere as the Poly.

We enjoyed everything about our 10 day stay at the CBR! Everything was bright and cheerful. Tropical foliage and fruit trees grew everywhere.

Each village has their own white sandy beach and quiet pool. It was nice to laze around in the hammock and watch the Epcot fireworks.

The bus system was very efficient. Because the CBR is so centrally located, it never took us long to get anywhere. We always drive to WDW (11 trips under our belt so far) so we have a car whenever we need. We drove to Epcot the first day but the second day, we decided to take the bus system. It was so nice to have someone else handle the traffic and directions. We never even started up our car again until we were getting ready to leave.

The food court had a large variety of foods to choose from. The full service restaurant, Shutters, was good.

The store was larger than I expected. We bought each of us a Caribbean Beach t-shirt, autograph books, scrapbooking items, etc.

We rented watermice and surrey bikes from the marina. They also rent pontoon boats, sailboats, canoes and bicycles.

If you really have your heart set on the Poly and your pocketbook can stand it, go for the Poly. If you want another resort with the same type theming, then go for the CBR. Save those extra $ for souveniers!

Have a fun trip, Lisa

I would switch to have a longer vacation with a cruise. I even thought about not doing Poly and going on the Disney cruise instead this year. Which moderate are looking at going to because your post wasn't clear. Is it CSR or CBR? I would pick CSR over CBR but that is my opinion.

Definitely would take CSR for 11 nights over 6 nights anywhere. Check out my website below for pics and info. CSR is a great resort and a very good value. Has lots of deluxe amenities like a spa, gym, salon and full menu room service.

sorry.. my post wasn't clear.... I fingers can't keep up with my brain! LOL! (I think I've fixed all my typos!)

I'm looking at Coronado Springs... (but I've also looked at Carribean Beach, but of the MODS, CSR seems a bit better with re: pool design for kids.. and that's important for my group!)

Buzz... I have been living on your site for the past few days. It truly is a wealth of information, and a treasure for us "must.plan.everything and see exactly what it all looks like before we set foot onto the property!" Thanks for pulling it all together for us!

Catherine

Just one thing to remember if you should tear yourself away from the Poly LOL

The cruise costs really add up even with a short cruise.

I am not sure of you're dates, but I am going Sept. 20-30 and the website shows availablity with free dining for lagoon view, and garden or lagoon conceirge. Maybe something has opened up during your'e time frame since you booked? HTH and good luck!!

oh! that makes it harder!

ugh... back to wdw.com to play with dates some more!!!

let me also add this tidbit that keeps bouncing around my mind: because of our kids' ages, this will probably be the last time we'll be able to stay at the POLY w/o needing two rooms... and WOWZA! that isn't cheap!
