I am staying at the Holiday inn express near universal for 4 nights before heading to AKL for 3 nights. I need find the most economical/easiest way to switch hotels.

Option 1- car rental one day
The lowest I can find is a rate of 43 a day before taxes so 48.60 post tax plus I'll estimate about 20 dollars in gas

Option 2- cab
I think the fare would be about 40 dollars plus tip so about 50 dollars

option 3- mears shuttle to airport and then ME to AKL
19 dollars for the shuttle...might take a long time

Any experience, thoughts, words of wisdom out there????

Well I have kind of done this - but almost always going through the airport to return a rental car and then get the ME to my Disney hotel. Not knowing how long it would take you to get the shuttle back to the airport from Universal, it didn't take as long as I'd thought to get the ME back to my Disney hotel - convenient really as I let the bus driver handle my bags - and I enjoy the ME - just part of my "Disney" experience. SO for the cheaper option - don't think it would be too bad.

I stayed at AKL in April - absolutely fantastic!!! A very magical resort!:wizard::goodvibes:wizard:

But - by far it seems the most straightforward way is to get a cab.

Good Luck!:)

I would suggest checking with Mears for a trip straight to WDW. They offer transportation from Disney to Universal, I'm sure they must do the same in the reverse direction. Could cost the same as the shuttle to the airport, or close enough to be worth it to pay for convenience.

thanks for the input...I'm excited about AKL...never spent this kind of money on a hotel before but sometimes you need to reward yourself ;)

Good idea...I'll give them a ring. I didn't even think of that before.
