switching adr's from 8 to 9

I made all of my adr's at 90 days for our trip(Jan.25). They were made for 8 people but now we have an additional adult coming. I am going to TRY changing them tonite but what happens to the ones that I can't change?? What happens if we show up with 9 people? Just curious

You may be disappointed, a table for eight generally doesn't accomodate nine. I'd call DD and try to change the number of people.

I am worried about the same thing. I had made reservations for 7 and really have 8 going. Most of the reservations were easy to change, but the ones that I have for Le Cellier and Liberty Tree Tavern weren't able to make the change. So, I am hoping that when we show up with 1 extra, we won't be turned away! Good luck!!!!

Going from 7 to 8 is much easier than going from 8 to 9. OP, the one thing you have going for you is that you are going during a slow time. I'd keep trying to change them but I'd still show up with 9 and I think you'll have pretty good luck at being seated anyway. We always go the end of January and except for character meals and Le Cellier, most of the restaurants are not full.

The restaurants will seat you IF THEY CAN. And empty tables are really not a good indicator on if they can seat you or not. Many people run late or fail to show for ADRs, but Disney holds the tables for them for quite a while.

The best thing is to switch your head count before you go. If that is not possible, show up for your ADR a bit early and keep your fingers crossed. Most Disney restaurants have the tables so close together that adding another person is not as simple as adding another chair to a table. You may need an entirely different table.

Also, you should decide ahead of time what you will do if your extra person cannot be accomodated. Will one person go off on their own? Will you all just skip the ADR? Have some idea of what you will do if the worst happens.
