Switching a PIN question

I received a PIN for free dining and asked my TA to check and see if it would be a better deal than my room only PIN I had given her to book my room.

She called Disney and they told her I could only use the free dining PIN in a waterview room at BC and that the PIN couldn't be switched from my other room only discount PIN on my standard room.

I would be paying more than $500 for the waterview and don't want it, but I just wanted to ask you all if you have had same experience with "switching PINS."

If you booked a room only and are going to a package the room only must be canceled and all monies refunded. Then you can book the package. That is because packages must be booked with Disney Travel Company even when booked with a TA.

Being told that you must book a water room at the Beach Club is probably because that is the only room category left for the pin discount (there are a limited number of room/categories available for each discount). Unless your heart is set on staying at the BC, have your TA try other resorts. It is possible that standard views will be available at another resort.

I think typically a room only % discount works out similar or better when booking a Deluxe. Especially when you have a high % discount like 30% or 40%. Depending of course how many people and if they are adult/children on the dining plan.

I have neve used a pin but from everything that I have read, this is typical. There has to be rooms still available using the new pin for it to be applied to the reservation.

In your case, it sounds like there are no more standard view rooms left that are eligible for the Free Dining pin and thus the reason you can't use it for the current reservation you have.
