Switched to Pop Century (Giving it a Second Chance)

So I originally booked at POFQ River View for a last minute trip because it was the cheapest room I could get, but I kept checking and was able to change to Pop Century and save 325$! I got a Preferred Pop Century Room and I was wondering what a "good request" would be besides landscape view (since I don't want to stare at the parking lot) and is it possible to request King bed somehow? (We had a bad first experience for my DH first trip (cast members and bus lines) and had sworn off it ever since, but we thought the 325$ was better use for food/PINS )
Thank in advance for the input!

If you booked preferred, you won't be looking at parking.
A lakeview room is always my favourite request, but those are only for standard rooms.
I like to request 60's to be far away from the parking, but close to the main pool and foodcourt.

Is it loud being in the 60's building? How's the 50's/70's? I'm going in 17 days so I doubt we'll be going in the pool. I don't need to be near the pool. I mostly care about close to buses (we rarely eat in the Cafeteria or go in the lobby unless it's on the way to the room)

My one stay at the Pop my room was in 50s building 1. It was a great location--very near the food court and bus stops, but quiet too. I would want that location again, definitely!

We've stayed in 60's preferred and 60's and 70's standard. I've never found any of those locations to be loud. The quietest rooms are lakeview though IMO.

On our last trip, I requested a room in building 6 (70s) facing the lake. It was a standard room but very close to the pool and Classic Hall. If we go back to POP, I would request this again.

How does this affect things? Is this bad? :/
They are starting room renovations next month. It's not bad, but I don't think anyone knows which buildings they are starting with so you may not get a particular request if they are renovating the building you want.

OH I see! Hm Ok! I hope they start with the 90's HAHA

I *think* that the main benefit to "preferred" rooms at Pop is proximity to the food court/bus stop. You sacrifice view, as others have said about non preferred 60's lake view, but lower the commute to/from the bus.

I've stayed at 60's and 70's preferred rooms. First floor each time (by request). The walk from either is almost equal.
60's is my favorite, so far.

If you truly want a king bed, you need to book a HA room with a roll in shower and king bed. It is a bookable category (you have to check the box to search for HA rooms and see if that is available). They don't have many of these at all. It's the type we book, since my DD can't stand in a shower. Yes, the water gets everywhere in the bathroom, so we use extra towels. With the king bed, it has room for her wheelchair in the room too (double bed rooms have very little space, so we have to fold it up at night).

Knowing this, though, if you book a HA and don't need it, you may be taking away from someone else who does need it.

There are maybe a couple of king rooms that don't have a roll in shower, but otherwise, almost all rooms have two double beds. So, I would go in assuming you will get a double bed at this point, and if you make any requests just put king bed in as your only one.
