Switched from PBH to HRH - deposit question please

I asked the CSR who changed my ressie for me, and she didn't know the answer:

I just changed my reservation from PBH to HRH. I thought they would be able to apply my original deposit to the new reservation, but they have to refund the first and charge a new one for HRH. How long does it take for the refund on the first one? I need to buy some furniture next week and I'm afraid that the new deposit will be charged before the original one is credited.

Anyone done this?

actually - i was able to credit the first deposit to the second reservation. you need to go through the "Accounting" department. be persistent.

I switched from RPH to HRH and it took a good amount of time to get the deposit back. It was a good week or two before I got it back. Just keep checking your account online for your credit card.

I would absolutely do what taxman said. Universal's been known to have a few problems in this area. I had one myself not to mention posts I have read about here. I booked a trip using 1 800 BE A STAR they took a deposit of one night that I later cancelled to use a different rate and I didnt get my deposit back for months! Another trip they never even charged me the deposit before my trip. Good Luck!

Thanks for the feedback and advice. I talked to the accting department directly and I *think* I've got it sorted, although I won't be at all surprised if it all goes horribly wrong.
