Switch room category months after booking.

I've booked deck 2 on a cruise and we're are fine with that (have stayed on deck 2 many times). We're expecting to spend a lot of money on excursions. If by some miracle, we have a windfall and can spring for a veranda, would the price be based on the prices when we booked or the current prices? I know I can ask about paid upgrade at the port, but it's never available when I ask.

DCL changed it a few years ago. The price will be the going rate at the time you make the change, not adjusted back to original booking date.

Okay, so likely it won't happen. We are going to Alaska at the end of the season, but I don't think I've ever seen room rates go down.
