Hi,

I am from the UK and I am going to Boston on a trip in November and am possibly going to be staying here.
Has anybody stayed there in the past?
What are the rooms like?
What are the facilities like?
Does it have a bar/Restaurant?
Is Swissotel a chain hotel group or is there only one in Boston?
Is there a Swissotel website?
How far is it from the main centre of town?

Sorry about all the questions, but I would like to have some knowledge about where I am staying before I go!! If you can help with anything .... Thanks!!

We stayed there a few days before Christmas 2 years ago. It is a very nice hotel and the service was excellent. They do have both a bar and a resteraunt. The rooms are fairly standard for that level of hotel. It is located right in the heart of downtown boston, within easy walking distance of the Theatre district, Beacon Hill and Boston Commons. They are a worldwide chain and I am sure they have a website.

Here's my 2 cents, or would it be schillings?

I don't think it's in the best of neighborhoods. I was inside the lobby once several years ago to meet my cousin & it looked very nice. It's just that the area around the hotel seems kind of run down IMO. There are alot of closed shops & hardly anyone walking around. When we met my cousin we walked to Faneuil Hall & back for dinner. When we were coming back, the streets around the hotel were deserted (and it wasn't that late out). My cousin was here on business so she took cabs to where she needed to go.

I would recommend looking into one of the Copley area hotels. They're close to a T stop & it's a nicer area.

I've also heard that the surrounding area isn't the best. But then you need to watch in any strange city where you are once the sun goes down.

We stayed at the Bostonian last year. It was nice, somewhat expensive, but right across from Faneuil Hall and the Freedom Trail. You couldn't beat the location.

swissotel is right near the downtown crossing stop on the red & orange lines. the immediate area is not very posh, but it's not far from the nicer parts. :)

The part about the neighborhood is true. ABSOLUTELY stick to the main streets after dark. It isn't a long walk to get to the "nice" area but caution would be advised.

I'm going to echo the "neighborhood" opinions... Last time I was there it was really run down. It's right near Chinatown and the old Combat Zone. (Anyone remember the Zone?)

Still, the hotel is nice.

And even though that area is not the best, it's far from the worst in the city. It's not awful, it's just not Boston's best face.
I see a lot of "quality of life" issues down around there, and not "loss of life" issues.

It's pretty easy to walk to most of the downtown area from there.
