Swinging Gondolas

I get motion sickness really easy on simulators, spinners, coasters even in the dark on Peter Pan a couple of times.
I have done the swinging gondolas 3 times. Once I got motion sick medium.
Once I had it lightly and once I didn't get it all.
After the initial swing where it is a bit disconcerting the swinging part can be very relaxing and pleasant.

While I've never ridden the swinging cars, the screams of those that do would seem to indicate that everyone has a different idea of "relaxing and pleasant".

I love thrill rides, btw, but you will never get me on the swinging cars.

I love the swinging cars too but I have yet to find a ride that can beat me :woohoo: But I was a bit surprised that there wasn't a lapbelt of some sort to at least give you the allusion of keeping you secure-especially for kids who may not have a firm grip on the ground of the ride.

We rode the swinging cars and thought they were great. Our DD4 wasn't sure at first but then thought they were awesome. In fact, she was mad when it was time to get off.

I did notice that some cars rocked a lot more. I think those people wanted to really get their money's worth! We were happy with letting the cars do all the work - we just enjoyed the ride. :)

No, nope, not a chance, never again. I will ride every ride at disney, but not this ferris wheel, ever again.

I am not one to get overly motion sick, and the swinging gondolas did me in in less than 1 revolution of the ride. They actually had to stop the ride and let me off I was so sick. I am so glad that they have the seasickness bags on the ride, cuz I sure needed one.

Yeah, if you get motion sickness easily the swinging gondolas are NOT for you. I rarely get motion sickness and still felt nauseated. As someone else said, it's the only ride with sickness bags on it... that says it all!

I can not do spinning rides (tea cups, dumbo, carousel). I can do Screamin' & ToT no problem. I do not have ANY trouble with the swinging gondolas on Mickey's Fun Wheel. I also do not understand why people hate them so much.

As fun as they look I dont think with our son only being 1.5 years he would like the swinging one. We will ride the regular one though! That View!!

See, you sound like me! It's only spinning rides that bother me and since these don't spin, I'm not entirely sure they'll make me sick. I don't know what to do lol. Maybe I should save it for last, just in case it makes me sick. And take some bromine lol.

I have a love/hate relationship with this ride. I cling to the sides like a maniac the whole time and I'm usually relieved when it's over. Yet we still go on it every time. :confused3

I love rollercoasters - the faster, taller and more loops the better! The swinging gondolas terrify me though, and I would never go on them for that reason. I had never considered the motion sickness aspect of it. It just gives me another reason not to go near it :rotfl:

I get the worst motion sickness on simulators, so can only ride Star Tours and Soarin' if I've had tablets. I can handle the teacups if I don't do any extra spinning. I also need motion sickness meds for car trips and flights, so I'll be stocking up for our upcoming trip!

My dare devil daughter who does not have much problem with motion sickness came off the swinging gondola absolutely green. I've heard others complain about it as well. I won't go on any of them (I can't even ride Soarin' without feeling terrible), but I would highly recommend the non-swinging version if you go on the fun wheel.

I don't get motion sick at all, but we rode the non swinging ones and both DH and I were white knuckled. Something about seeing the swinging gondolas come rushing towards you like they were going to crash into you and stopping at the last moment was not relaxing LOL

I wonder if the issue with the swinging gondolas is not just the "swinging" but the height as well.

I'm wondering that as well.

Ahh I just can't decide. I'm thinking I'm going to try it once at the end of the trip and take some bromine first. I'm NOT at all afraid of heights. I like to rappel and do crazy stuff like that. And the only motion that makes me sick is spinning.
