I still think too many people are overreacting

yes people have died from it but a person could die from a regular cold if its not treated, even though though the swin flu is new if you catch it quick enough it can be treated

Some kid has it at one of the Catholic schools about an hour away...they shut down the school.
But it's the flu, so, really. People die from the flu all the time, but since most people don't, we don't get all "ZOMG DA FLU IMMA DIEEEE" because people get it so much and most people's immune systems fight it off.

It is to us, but not to the people who don't get access to proper healtcare.
The people who are freaking out, I think, are too busy freaking out to get that fact through their mind and absorb it.

In my opinion, the media's not helping either.

Yes, but there is multiple treatments and prevention for the regular influenza. This is a new strain of flu that combines human, swine, and avain flus. There is no cure!

Now do some see why we panic?
This thing is totally freaking new!

I actually already knew that there is no cure... More importantly there is no vaccine. They do have tamiflu, (SP?) Which helps if you catch it earlier.
I understand that this is new, but we shouldnt panick about it. just be cautious

It's been reported in my city. The girl is in her twenties, and was recently in Mexico. The hospital took forever diagnosing it, and still hasn't given her any medecine. She said in Mexico, she couldn't leave her room. She couldn't summon the energy to drink, or even use the bathroom.
I really hope I don't catch it, I don't want to be taken care of by a hospital that doesn't do their work.

I started to get a flu in the last week....dont think its a swine flu but hey...you never know! lol....ive still got it though but work has been forcing me in to work with it as its their busiest period at the moment so....

My mom told me that a girl in south florida, about 35 minutes or less from where I live tested positive for the swine flu.

I only saw 1 person in school wearing a mask today.

I dont think it is something to JOKE about, but its certainly not something to PANIC over.....36,000 people die from regular flu....
also they should stay home only because they shouldnt be rude by possibly getting someone else sick.

I'm not saying that everyone should PANIC over it, but atleast be cautious, and yeah 36,000 people have died from the regular flu, but the Swine is gonna end up turning into a pandemic.

I'm not scared about it at all. Some people are just really over reacting.
My teacher was telling us the only reason people in other countries were dying from Swine Flu is because they don't have health insuarance and can't afford to get to a doctor.
I don't know if that's true but that's what he said.

My mom was doing research on this today for a client who was panicking and apparently, it might have actually started in California but nobody noticed because it was so similar to the regular flu and would have begun to occur during flu season. It only became this bad when it migrated to Mexico where people don't have access to our level of healthcare.

I loled when I got to my campus this morning. There's flyers everywhere and a huge 'proper way to wash your hands' poster in the bathrooms. OH, and they're installing hand sanitizer things in the hallways.

I hear they might start selling face masks in the bookstore.

I'm really trying not to giggle right now.

at least three WHOLE school DISTRICTS have been shut down till May 11 over like Four kids.

the only reason the kid in Houston died was because his family was here illegally and they couldn't get health care.

lol basically this entire swine flu thing is a big media event. its just a worse case version of the flu and i think the news said one person died....but the person was like 2 years old or somthing.
