It's really weird what I've read from some comments already about how the media has really worked people up about this, and what they've done has worked its created people to panic and worry.

I think in the UK it was moved up to a 5 because one more person had been confirmed to having it making it 8. The majority of people who have caught it have recovered well without any medical drugs or anything, but you don't hear that in the news.

Apparently I have it, and people won't sit next to me on the bus...why do they think it? because my hayfever has gotten really bad this week and I have a throat problem (have done for years so I cough alot)....

Its just weird to see how the media have really hyped this flu up and people have bought it.

(I'm a media student haha).

basically not many people here will die because we have proper medical treatment.
yes there is no vaccine but there are anti biotics that help slow the process down.
i saw a few kids wearing masks in school today and i just rolled my eyes at them.

They are now calling it the H1N1 Influenza A virus. I wish people would settle down! Stay healthy, exercise, and use universal precautions!

ETA: I'm 60 miles from the border! So far there havent been any cases in my county yet.

H1N1 Influenzavirus A is just a form of the swine flu, so I don't understand why exactly you said that?

Anyway, no confirmed cases in my state yet.

I mean, I can just picture this person walking around the mall when, all of a sudden, THEY COUGH! And then, out of no where all these police swarm the area, tackle the poor person to the ground and force them to go into isolation.

Just because someone from Texas feels sick, it doesn't mean that they automatically have the Swine Flu, you know? It's just ridiculous.

Yes its extreme. He's in the hospital now and they're keeping the whole thing quiet until they can actually confirm it was him. I don't know.

well there has been cases in Kansas, Ohio, and some other states, and its been like 3 days and no additional cases for Kansas or Ohio.. Im not worried, just careful

Yeah, I know. It doesn't really matter what you call it, it's still a combination of swine/avian/human flu.

There are 12 probable cases in my state, they're just waiting for the lab tests to come back.

Someone like 15 minutes from where I live got the Swine Flu, so they had to shut down the schools in that district. Then the city my aunt lives in, has a person with the Swine Flu also.
It's a level 5 right now, I want them to close down all the schools in Michigan to clean them just to be safe.
It's a scary thing.

Some kid has it at one of the Catholic schools about an hour away...they shut down the school.
But it's the flu, so, really. People die from the flu all the time, but since most people don't, we don't get all "ZOMG DA FLU IMMA DIEEEE" because people get it so much and most people's immune systems fight it off.

Sure, its not something to joke about, but the media makes things sound worse than they really are.

Yes, but there is multiple treatments and prevention for the regular influenza. This is a new strain of flu that combines human, swine, and avain flus. There is no cure!

Now do some see why we panic?
This thing is totally freaking new!
