Swine flu shots for the taking!

I forgot to ask my brother the last time I talked to him.. He lives in an entirely different section of Florida than my sis.. I have a feeling he's not going to bother though - even with his asbestosis and mesothelioma (sp?)..:sad2: (Not sure about his GF.) He'll just put on his rose-colored glasses and pretend all is well in the world.. I love him - but sometimes his attitude drives me nuts!! LOL..
With all due respect, C.Ann, if you brother has mesothelioma, I doubt very much that he has *rose-colored glasses* on. He is a very sick man. I suspect he is doing what he feels best for him with the limited time he has left. It really doesn't matter if his choices *drive you nuts*. I hope you can find it in your heart to support his choices rather than berate them. Remember, the H1N1 vaccine really isn't the panacea you are making it out to be.

"Berating him"????? Is there a full moon tonight or what??? Have you ever heard of "tongue in cheek"? With all due respect, you have no idea what my relationship is with my brother, what the "rose-colored glasses" reference implies, what his current physical condition is, or "what is in my heart".. Did you NOT see the "LOL" at the end of that post???

As for the "panacea" you are referring to - and what you "think" I'm making it out to be - I have no idea what you're talking about..

Your entire post makes no sense to me.. None...

I think I have just stepped into the Twilight Zone............

You lucked out for sure. There are regulations at the health dept so that only the priority groups can get them. All of FL county health depts have this. Our Dr's office is the same. Only the kids could get at the Peds office. DH called along his route 3 hours out of town and even the CVS and Walgreens that offered it ALSO had the priority group only restriction. Do you all have asthma or other conditions? Maybe you went early on before they realized the "tiers" for who could get them.

Check your counties site here and see if there are still restrictions. Everyone I click on has restrictions:

Not any in my part of FL. either. Still for the first priority group. It looks like some parts must be opening up to all which is promising for those areas that are not. :)

Where is Sarasota located? The only places that I can picture in my mind are:

Orlando
Lady Lake
The Villages
Daytona Beach
Ormond Beach
Panama City
Vero Beach
St. Port Lucie
Miami
Tampa

Other than that, I'm pretty much lost..:rotfl:

I do go out on occasion at the lake - to the general store, to church, to the campfires, to drop off baked goods for the charity benefits, etc. - but why waste gas trucking all over the place when I'm perfectly happy with my chosen activities?

So do you attend church for the several months you live with your DD?
You do have siblings in Florida-why not travel to see them?
I know retired people who lead active lives, and some-like my MIL who stay home a lot-but still go to the beauty parlor, have coffee with a friend etc.

It was the way you said have you rarely(3 times) venture out when at your DD's that sounded "reclusive:.

1 hour south of Tampa on the West Coast of FL.

Wow, that's a big a misinterpretation of C.Ann's post. :sad2:

As for the vaccine being a panacea - I don't know about that - but it's the very best thing we have to combat it's spread at the moment.

C.Ann seems pretty calm to me :thumbsup2

I would say that it is about time to get this thread back on track. I believe the original thread was about the availability of the H1N1 vaccine in areas around the country. Do we all agree?

I live in Western NY and my doctor had H1N1 vax in today. A whole bunch and they don't care if you're high risk or not.
They're going to vaccinate dh and dd too even though they aren't patients there.
:cool1:
I think in another few weeks, maybe a month, there will be a surplus. People are seeing H1N1 wane and won't want one.

I know quite a few people who got the shot, then the flu a day or two later. Coincidence? Who knows, but I hope we don't.

I'm just thrilled people aren't dropping like flies like they did in 1918.

Not available in my area yet. Southwest of Boston. There is a flu clinic being held in my town next week - but it has been restricted to children ages 6 months to 5 years.

Things are read differently in print than when talking directly to a person. Perhaps if C.Ann and I were sitting over a cup of tea, my experience would be different. I was responding to how I read her post. Her brother is a very sick man if he indeed has mesothelioma. I would just hope C.Ann is supportive of his decisions for quality life.

Let's hope we can get the spread of H1N1 under control. If more people would cover when sneezing (I have been seeing a lot of sneezing without covering recently.....yuck, and if they would cover while coughing), that would help abate the spread too. Frequent hand washing and hand sanitizer is also good.

C. Ann did not seem calm to me, but then again I was not having tea with her.

Let's get back to the original purpose of the thread. The current banter is getting absurd.

I've gotten the regular flu shot-but am really not concerned with the Swine flu shot at all:confused3

"They" were expecting more numbers after the Thanksgiving holidays because people cram into houses for get togethers. It's been 8 days since Turkey day and so far, it's still waning. 3-7 day incubation period, so it would have started by now.
I'm hoping it dies out and stays dead.
Next year, it will be put into the seasonal vax and we can all relax for another 40 years. :lol

The rude and antagonistic personal comments need to stop NOW.

Discuss the topic, but do not bait or discuss how you feel about other posters please.

Yes, I agree..that was the intention of the post. Thanks for pulling us back on track.

A great place to find the vaccine is at Walgreens. They tell you which locations ha e the vaccine.
