Swine flu has hit my house!

HUGS to everyone who is dealing with this or has had to deal with it--it's horrible. we had to take DD to the dr yesteray morning--with the retching, the congestion, the watery eyes, the fever, etc. She has h1n1 and the dr said that our area was covered up in it right now--DD met the criteria for high risk because of the lung disease, the nissen fundo and the feeding tube. They put her on zofran Monday night for the retching and tamiflu yesterday. She's horrible, she can't breathe because of the congestion in her head right now, so I'm really worried when the congestion goes lower into the lungs. She still has a fever, with tylenol it's staying around 100 to 101. She's getting feeds/fluid thru her feeding tube so at least we don't have to worry about dehydration.

We, too, are in a town that starts with that letter. LOL
The doctor did a strep test. That was negative. She said that she really does not believe it is the flu because there is no fever, or low grade fever if any. She said that she thinks it is a really nasty virus. She did say that she is not better by Friday that I can bring her back in.

Hey neighbors. We're in Indian Trail.

There's definitely a lot of illness going around our schools and neighborhood, but I'm not sure if any of it is swine flu or not.
DS14 has been sick since the weekend with a cough, sore throat, and mild fever (about 101). DD5 stayed home yesterday with a cough, but hasn't had a fever and seemed to be feeling fine today. DD9 stayed home today with a sore throat, but hasn't had much of a cough or fever yet.
We haven't taken anyone to the Dr's yet, because they all seem to be doing ok with rest. I'm hoping they just have colds, but DS14 definitely seems to have flu symptoms.

My 16 yr old son came down with it on Monday. He started Tamiflu yesterday after a trip to the doctor's office. Husband stayed home with him yesterday, today is my day. He's been so sweaty. I had to change all his bed linens twice because he got them soaked with the sweating. I think he changed into different pajamas three times last night because he was so wet with sweat. Doctor thought he might be over it by Thursday or Friday.

This is Homecoming week at school with the football game on Friday and the dance on Saturday. Keeping our fingers crossed that he can go to the dance on Saturday. His date is his best friend and I hope he won't have to disappoint her.

Thank you! DD is still in bed this morning so we will see what happens when she wakes up. I have an upset stomach this morning. It is churning and I do not feel like eating anything. Ugh! :sad2: I hope you and your boys feel better soon! You might want to check out Oscillococcinum.
http://www.oscillo.com/ A friend of my cousin (and an acquaintance of mine) is a nurse and she highly recommended it. I was only able to find it at Viatmin Shoppe at first. However, our CVS just recently started carrying it. The web site says that KMart also carries it. DD says that it makes her feel better. She can tell when it wears off.
ETA: There is a coupon on the website too!

WalMart carries it too. A lady I work with suggested it to me last year and that is where I found it.

:wave2: Hi neighbor! My son plays hockey over there in Indian Trail. We used to live there (well, Stallings)...

Well, good news is my youngest son who started with the flu is on the other side of it. He has lingering cough, but is feeling much better. My daughter is coughing with the horrible congestion. And hubby is still good to go.
I'm just tired, achey, sore throat off and on. BUT I never came down full blown with the cough and congestion. Pray I don't start either.

BUT now my oldest is down with it - he's really sick. So now I'm worried about him. Everyone I talk to either has it in their family or a friend has it. It's horrible around here right now. He said 1/2 the cashiers called out yesterday where he works.

Oh well, I guess the great side of all of this is - we had it and shouldn't catch the the swine flu again? The dr said unless it changes it's strain?

I just heard yesterday the first child in NC died. That just breaks my heart. :guilty:
