There's a lot of talk about H1N1 (Swine Flu) and how many people are sick with it.

Have you or anybody living in your house been diagnosed with H1N1 which was confirmed by a test for H1N1?

If you have been told that you have/had H1N1 and were not tested, indicate that too.

Other. Nobody has been sick, so no one has gotten tested.

I was sure my DD had swine flu over the summer. She was sicker than I had ever seen her before. She had all the classic symptoms. I actually googled swine flu symptoms and she had every single one. I took her to the emergency room because she was so sick she could barely walk. Wen we got there they immediately took her back without any waiting because her heart rate was very high (due to dehydration although she was drinking fluids) the doctors and nurses treating her were wearing masks. They tested her for the flu and it came back negative. They only did a nose swab though and I have read that those are not always accurate so who knows.

DD tested + yesterday and ds, who seemed sicker tested - . She is sick, but has been sicker before with strep. The DR said ds probably has it also, but illness started later, and probablt isn't testing + yet.

Ds 13 had it back in June, tested positive. Ds 9 had swine flu symptoms but they weren't testing any more at that point. Hoping he had it then.

My dd tested positive for type A flu in June. They were not testing for swine anymore, just type and assuming it was swine. I had been sick the week before but never went to the Dr so I am assuming that I also had it.

DD was diagnosed with the Swine flu type A this past Monday via nose swab and finger prick...she was given Theraflu and is now 95% recovered. :yay:

No one's had the "flu". We did have two days in a row where middle DS threw up once each night but he felt fine both immediately before and immediately after.

In June both DH and I were exposed at our Dr's office to it (I took DH there for another issue) and we got very sick, but tested negative, but it was just a swab. After research, I learned that false negatives are quite easy to get with this type of test, so I am almost positive that we both had it.

While a lot of people are reporting stomach issues with H1N1, typically the influenza doesn't involve throwing up, it is a respiratory illness, which is why it is so dangerous. Usually you have a high fever, chills, cough, severe body aches, etc. You would know if your kids had some form of influenza.

DS17 was tested last spring-I didn't think he had the flu but that was the only way to get back into school to take his finals. He had a bad cold and an ear infection but since he had a high fever we had to keep him home.

Our schools don't start until Tuesday so we haven't seen any outbreaks there year but they did just confirm 2 cases of H1N1 with the 4-H'ers at the State Fair and there are several others that are sick so they all got sent home (they stay in dorms during the fair).

Back in July, I was so sick, about as sick as I'd been in my entire life. I actually drove 1 hour to school, because I had a mandatory lab, but I felt so horrible, the doctor running the lab told me to go home before lab even started. He was staring at me with this look of "Get out of here right now you diseased carrier monkey!" He also very highly suggested I go to the clinic or my own doctor so I can get a note to submit to the people in charge. So I go to the clinic, they had literally just opened. At first, they told me to come back at 10:30, and I figured ok, I still had my apartment 10 minutes away, I still had sheets on the bed, I could go there and then come back. Then I'm about to leave, when the secretary decides since the 9 am appointment wasn't there, I can go back right away.

So I go back with the nurse, and end up seeing 3 other people. One was a student doing a preceptorship, then I saw a doctor who finished his family med residency, but was doing a sports medicine fellowship with the doctor who was in the office. Then, the other doctor came in. He's a family doc, but does mostly sports medicine now, but he was the only one in the clinic at that time. They all stood as far away from me as possible. By the time they thought about using masks, they already had been exposed. I got tested, but not with the rapid test, they don't have them in the clinic. By the time the results came back, I was already feeling better.

My doctor thought it was silly to test, because it wouldn't change the management. He was still going to give me Tamiflu because I had known exposure (my dad had it the week prior), and if I got sicker, I was going to have to come back, and if I got better, did it really matter what it was? By the time the results came back, I had one more Tamiflu pill to take.

I think the way this poll is set up you are going to get ALOT of "Other" responses.

No one I know was tested for it nor thought they had it.

Ditto. School has been back in session for a week and a half (DD's college for a week) and we haven't heard any reports yet of H1N1. I do realize it will probably hit, just hasn't yet.
