Anybody else flying with an infant under 6 months? We are going at the end of October and I'm just a little worried about the swine flu hoopla. Anyone else worried? I know we can't live in fear but I just can't shake the worry out of my head. :headache:

The swine flu is just another strain of flu. No better or worse than any of the others we deal with on a regular basis. That bing said, any flu can pose problems in an infant under 6 months b/c of the limited treatment options open as that age(i.e. not motrin for fever ect) I would just take normal precautions while flying. Saline mist for the nose is really the only thing you can do to attempt to prevent them picking it up on the plane.

I'm not flying with someone that young and not until Feb but over all we're not too worried about swine. I do pack wetnaps in my kids lunch and snack bags and if we go anywhere I wipe down surfaces with them (tables, shopping cart handles, etc) and we wipe hands down when leaving before getting back in the car. I would suggest when flying to bring some thing similar with you (even regular baby wipes would be better than nothing) and just wipe down the surfaces on the plane that you can (tray, seat arms, belt buckle etc).

It's out there and no matter where you go you risk being exposed, airports and planes are no different. Just be vigilant and practice proper hand washing and keeping strangers away from the baby's stuff and hopefully you can avoid it.
