Okay, just a few weeks to go and I'm getting down to the nit-picky details of my planning.
Someone mentioned that it's a good idea to take swimsuits for the kids (DS6 & DD4) because of the many opportunities to get wet. Is this a good idea or will it just take up valuable space in my pack? This is our first ever trip to WDW, so I'm not really familiar with why a kid might need a swimsuit. What type of places are there where the kids might get really wet?

Thanks!

There are play areas for the kids. A couple are at Ariel's Grotto and Donald's boat. I just let my kids play in their clothes and they dried off quickly in the hot summer sun. I brought along flip flops, though.

Epcot and MK for sure have places to get wet (Donald's Boat and fountains at MK and fountains at Epcot)....not sure about AK and MGM (never noticed) I let my dd go into the fountains and such in shorts and t-shirts and change her afterwards.....you could rent a locker for extras, fortunately for us, we are both in wheelchairs, so we have ample room for extra clothes....

There are play fountains in all the parks and Downtown Disney. In the summer heat, these are great places for the littles to cool down. Many parents simply put the swimwear on the kids under thier clothes and peel off the outer layer when they get to a fountain, then add it back on later after the kids dry off (be sure to add those layers back on, even if it's very hot, and re-apply sunblock several times per day, because the sun in Florida is brutal to those with sensitive skin like kids).

On really hot days I just put a two piece bathing suit on my girls under their clothes. I just throw a couple of pair of underwear in our bag if they want to get changed. Sometimes ds will just wear a bathing suit and shirt instead of shorts and I'll bring a towel. In July the bathing suits will dry out really quickly.
