Swimming pool stairs

Does anyone leave their pool stairs inside their above ground pool when closing it for the winter? This was my first summer with stairs instead of a ladder. I tried to get them out but the screws holding them onto the deck are stripped/rusted. Even my daughters boyfriend can't budge them.

We remove ours. WOW - The screws stripped/rusted after just one season? That was fast. I guess you could try leaving them in - but I'm not sure if it would damage the steps or the liner. Plus you wouldn't be able to get a cover on tight (at least with our pool steps). So maybe it would be best just not to cover it at all. My neighbor did that last year.

Try spraying the screws with some WD 40 and let them sit for a while. There are a number of ways to remove a stripped screw; do a Google search for some suggestions.
