Hi - I have never posted before but enjoy reading everyone else's posts, and find them really helpful. We plan to visit WDW in early November 2012, and will probably be staying at POR. We are from PA and used to colder fall weather, but can we hope for warm enough weather in November to use the hotel pool on regular basis, and maybe even visit a water park? We went in February a few years ago and managed to swim one day but the other days were pretty nasty. Is November noticably better than Feb.? (I know it is in PA, but not sure if FL has a marked difference btwn those months). Thanks for your help, and any opinions/advise you may have about POR too.

Hi! I can't speak for November, but my family has been once in December & January several times.

It really is a toss-up & you just never know about those colder months. My family has swum at AKL on Xmas eve. It was such a nice day! But earlier that week we were practically freezing & wore coats/hats/mittens to MK. We've also been to BB in January.

Just make sure you pack a variety of clothing. Have a great trip!

We went the week of thanksgiving in 2011. It was warm enough to swim, we didn't, but there were tons of people at the WL pool. Plus, all the pools are heated.

We did a December trip, and the weather changed so much day to day that we had a few days when we could swim and a few when we were bundled up in coats and warm clothes. Hopefully, you will get lucky! The pools are heated, but that doesn't help too much when it is freezing out.

We were there in the middle of last November ... the temps were mostly in the low 80's ... we went swimming every day or evening ... it was great! :goodvibes

We were there this last November the week before Thanksgiving. It was definitely warm enough for us northerners to swim, but I don't know that I would want to spend a whole day at a water park.

We were there Nov. 2010 and it was warm enough to swim. :thumbsup2
I didn't think warm enough for a water park though, walking around wet might be cool.

We've been 3 times in Feb. Once was our hottest trip ever and once was our coldest trip ever! We have gone twice in November (Thanksgiving) and it was more of a mix. Some days were warm enough to swim, some were not. Of course, people were in the pool every day on both November trips, but we we would not have gone in on some of the days and we live near Chicago. The funniest part to me is on a "cooler" day, the lifeguards are all bundled up and shivering. I'm sure they think everyone in the pool is insane!

I'd bring your suits and see how much you want to swim! I would have a backup plan if you are thinking about a water park day. I wouldn't buy that option on my ticket. I'd wait and see and add it on if needed.

We have been twice in Nov. & were able to swim in the middle of the day. The weather is hit or miss that time of year and we had days in both the 70's and 80's. Mornings & nights were a lot cooler. We didn't go to water parks that time of year. I agree w/others that said wait & see what the weather brings......

Have a great vacation!

Early November is almost always mild, but you never know. Just keep an eye on forecasts as your trip grows closer.

We used the pool in November. It wasn't too cold, though the run from the pool to your towel was mildly chilly.

Then again, we go boogie boarding in the ocean at Christmas in shorties, so maybe we aren't the family to check with.

I think it just depends on the day and the family.

We've gone the last 2 trips during Jersey week in earlt Nov. Both times we had great weather. I ,like you was very skeptical about what to expect. Both times we had mostly highsaround 80. Sometimes 70. 1 day was maybe 62. It drops a little at njght and early morning but for the most part definetely swimming weather. As to what PP stated I as well think water parks arehit or miss. There were people there though. Have fun:)

During our first trip it was super hot. That was the last week of November. We swam with no problem. On our second trip which was the week after Halloween it was a little cooler at the end of the week but I think it was 90 for the first half. So we swam at the begining and were laughing at the lifeguards is their warm up suits at the end but didn't brave the water. Being from New England we are used to swimming when it may not be the warmest but we never really had an issue except that last day of the early Nov trip when it was in the 60s. Have fun!

It should be fine! this past year it was still in the 80s and the pools are heated.:thumbsup2

It definitely varies from year to year and you can't always tell a week in advance. We went the very first of Dec. and nearly froze to death - no swimming for us even though we actually saw a few people doing it - one family said they had left the snowy north to swim and that was what they were going to do :lmao: We had scarves, hats, and gloves and still cold. Some years the whole month of Dec. is mild. I'm from so. LA and that has always been the case - just be prepared for anything :goodvibes

I was so excited to see that you nice people had responded to my 1st question! Now maybe I won't be afraid to post more, so watch out!

Thank you for your responses. Per the good advice, I will not add on the water park option, but rather wait til we are there to see if we have a day warm enough to do it.

Happy day to you all!

November can be a funny month, weather-wise but there are low crowds. We've gone in early November in 2005, 2007 and 2010. In '05 and '07, the weather was perfect during the day (Sunny, upper 70's, low 80's and we were able to use the pools everyday - never rained), evenings were a bit cooler so we never went in the pool at night. In 2010, we were only able to utilize the pool a couple of days as it was pretty cold (there was a cold front the week we were there). In 2009, we went in October (over Columbus Day). It was extremely HOT & HUMID, it honestly felt like Florida's summer and crowds were horrendous. Last year, we went at the end of October and the weather was perfect all week, warm, low 80's, plenty of pool time, except for our last day - it rained. I have never been in February so I can't comment but I think if you stick with early November, perhaps even last week in October into early November, you "should" be ok...not sure if I'd waste my $$ on the waterparks though. In fact, I'm almost positive that during our 2010 visit, one of the waterparks was already closed for the yearly refurbishment. In any case, if I had my way, I'd always go late October/early November but with our DD's getting older, our Fall trips will have to wait for a while. Good Luck and I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter when you go.
