Planning our trip to Disney in January 2007. I know the pools and Blizzard Beach are open in January. Has anyone gone to Blizzard Beach during January or February? Just wondering how cold it is during this time. How are the resort pools during this time? Is it warm enough to swim and enjoy it? :confused3

It depends on how warm the weather is. As for BB, I'd check and make sure it's open since January is a good refurbishment time for the water parks. Some January's were nice and warm, other's we were freezing. It's kind of hit or miss. January is too fickle of a month to tell for certain.

We have gone twice in January and haven't gone swimming. We were there this year and there were a couple days that were warm enough, but being value season the parks close pretty early, so we opted to use our time in the parks. We also left 20 degree weather , so 60-70 seemed pretty warm. I think this year the highest temp was around 78. I don't know that I would plan a day at the water parks, but I guess you never know how the weather will be. Enjoy! Maybe we'll be there at the same time!

We just spent 9 days in Disney in January.

We went to BB twice...the only 2 days it reached 80 degrees. The other days the temp. was in the 70s.

The water was rather cold in the lazy river. I asked the lifeguard what temp. it was heated to & she asked me, "Did someone tell you the water is heated?"

"I'm sure I've read that before", I replied.

She shook her head "no" & said the water is not heated.

I asked about TL & she said she did not know.

It was cold but we did spend about 2 hours both days at BB.

It was very empty. The kids had fun!!

We were there at the beginning of January this year. Orlando was having record cold temperatures two days we were there. At night it was 28 degrees! It cleared the parks out nicely, but needless to say there wasn't much swimming. We were staying at the Beach Club so we had been hoping to use Stormalong Bay a lot so we were kind of disappointed. But the last two days of our trip it was 80 degrees and we laid by the pool all day. So I guess I am just saying that it is not at all dependable. However, we're booked at the Beach Club again this January, we think it's a great time to go!

We just spent Jan 3-9 earlier this year, and some subset of the kids were in the resort pools three of those days. :sunny:

We have been to disney in January the past 7 years. We have had all kind of weather, most chilly. This year we were there 1/20-29 and it was the warmest it's ever been, high in the 80"s and low in 60"s. It was great.

We always stay at Wl or Akl, this year Akl. We always swim because the pools were heated and toasty warm no matter how cold it was. Well, this year they have lowered the temps. on all the disney resort pools and it was freezing, even during the day. Very disappointed.

I was there over MLK week and there was NO wa we would even think of swimming in that weather. Great for touring the parks but a little breezy/chilly to even wear shorts IMO, this year.

In 2 of our 3 Jan or Feb trips we have spent a day at a water park. The water in Tikes Peak was a lot warmer than the lazy river. Not sure if it was just a coincidence. In that Feb 05 visit our longest wait to get into any park was for Blizzard Beach. It was the only forecasted 80 degree day for that week.

I guess it's a good thing that my next January trip will be with my girlfriend and not with my kids! My friend just cannot take the hot temperatures and always gets that rash on her legs when we go in the Spring or Fall. I promised her that if I got an annual pass this year, I,ll go with her, JUST US GIRLS! the end of January. I guess instead of evening swimming, we'll just have to go to Pleasure Island ..... :p

We went to BB the second week in January this year. The temp the day we went reached about 80. However, when the park first opened, the water felt chilly.

Usually either BB or Typhoon Lagoon is closed in January.
