DS keeps asking me if he is going to be able to swim. Having never been, I can't answer that question and I'm hoping you all can help.

We will be at CSR the first week in Dec. What do I tell him?

Thanks!

We have always been able to go swimming in December. In the day it is usually upper 70's, At night it is chilly but the water is heated so the swimming part is ok, it's the getting out and back to your room part that is cold at night! :cold:

We went in December 3 years ago and we found it too cold to swim. But I think, and maybe some FL residents can help me with this one, the temps can vary greatly that time of year. You may get some really warm days, but it may be cold, too. Even as cold as it was though, there were families in the heated pool anyways.

Maybe I'll pack the suit and let him be surprised if he gets to swim..sounds like the weather is too varied for me to even venture a guess.

Thank you!

We always go to Disney in Jan/Feb and we have gone swimming every day - although we are from up north so to us the weather is warm enough. We fully intend on going swimming this Jan and even plan on going to a water park! The pools are usually heated so it is fine.
Some would say we are crazy though :)

Paige, you are correct. The best answer you can give him is.....MAYBE!

Winter months at WDW are completely unpredictable. So pack the swimsuits (and some sweatshirts too) and hope for the best!

we go every year during the first week of Dec. Swim everytime. Wouldn't be Disney or Florida if we didn't. Last year we spent more time in the hot tub than the pool, but still very fun.

When we went to HHI this spring I was all prepared in case it was cold. I brought along the microwave hot packs from my Corningware casserole takealong set. My plan was to heat up some towels in the dryer, heat up the hot pack in the microwave, then place it all in a soft side cooler and take it with us to the pool so we could have warm towels when we got out of the pool. In my test run at home the hot pack kept the towels warm for a good amount of time in the insulated cooler. Fortunately it was warm enough that we didn't need to try out my system. We will be going to WDW in a few weeks. Might pack that hot pack again!

If the weather that we are having this week stays around, you could definately swim. It is in the mid 80's and just beautiful!!!! :sunny: I hope it sticks around for your trip!!!

We are planning on going swimming also in December. We are also from up North, so just abount anything is warmer then here for us:)

We were in WDW for a week the 2nd week in December last year and we had our highs in the uppper 50's lower 60's, and we had 3 or 4 nights of 30's. We were not prepared for it to get that cold. We did not bring our winter coats or hats or gloves. We ended up wearing so many layers of sweatshirts and had to by the mickey and minnie christmas hats to keep our heads and ears warm. The day we left the temp. went up to around 70 degrees, so we didn't swim at all our entire trip. Just make sure you pack a little bit of everything so you are prepared for any type of weather. If you have to do some washing while you are that, it's better than not having the proper clothing.

I think it totally depends where you're from! LOL! I live in Fl and I won't swim in December - way too chilly for me... evenw ith a heated pool. But it was in the 80s here til yesterday. Last year I went swimming until mid-November... it all depends on the temps which can fluctuate greatly.
