we have our first trip home december 3-12 @ SSR. i know the pools are heated, but i'm wondering if it will be warm enough for our little ones to swim (DD will be almost 3 and DS close to 2). i know here in Baton Rouge it can easily be in the 80s & 90s in early december but wanted advice from you all who have small kids.
thanks in advance.

It depends on the weather. We were there Dec. 2-10 and my kids (DD6 & DS4) went swimming twice. There were other days where it was warm enough to swim, but we were busy doing other things. Have fun!

It could be 80° or 50° at that time. We have traveled to WDW the first week in December and it is really luck-of-the-draw. Check weather.com before you leave for the 10 day forecast and you will know what to pack. We'll be at BWV that week and are hoping for warm weather as well.

Yep, very changeble weather in early December. We always end up at the pool during that time, but then we are from Minnesota! ;)

Air temperature is anyones guess but I'd plan on high 60's low 70's. The probelm you'll face is that DVC has new pool temperature policies in place. At one point they had lowered it down to 78 degrees claiming that 78 degrees is recommended by the American Red Cross. After TONS of ANGRY :furious: responses from guests they relented a little. They are now keeping them at 82 degrees. This is still down from the 84 degrees they previously used.

I don't know about anyone else, but those 2 degrees make a huge difference in the cooler months IMO. I noticed a huge difference in the water temperature at Stormalong Bay this March. It bordered on too cold for us. In December or January it would have been murder.

Once again the cost cuting measures can be seen and in this case felt throughout WDW. One has to wonder if these cost cutting measures are benefitting the guest or just DVC and WDW. My vote clearly lies with them benefitting WDW. A sad state of affairs for sure.

Like everyone else has stated, weather this is time of year is very variable.

One of our December trips we had mostly sunny days in the mid 80s with near 100% humidity. We enjoyed the pool very much that trip!

Another trip, it was mainly in the 70s until the last day when it dipped down into the 50s and became very windy.

thank you all so much. i was mainly wondering if there would be a chance that we could use the pool with the little ones and you've all told me yes...there is a chance.

We stayed in OKW late NOV early DEC and the weather was nice enough to swim. We stayed at BCV in mid Jan and it was too cold

our experience at okw the first week of december 2003, was the weather was nice enough for shorts and t shirts in the afternoon, but chilly in the morning, 50's, needed a long sleeve shirt or jacket, but we swam in the pool most nights, and were comfortable, not hot tub comfortable but not pacific cold either, and we're warm blooded texans.

There are times between December and March when it is very warm and times when it can get quite cold. In 2006, we went first week of January -- had close to 80 degree temperatures for first 5 days and then on the sixth day the high was 44.

I generally do not like swimming in cooler weather but have been in the pool every Christmas/New Year's trip that we have taken to WDW (3 of the last 4 years). I have found that there is usually some good swimming weather during those trips.

You should have been around for January 14 & 15th. 39 & 33 degrees. BRRRRRRRRRRRR

In 2004, we got to swim more than once. In 2005, I froze!! It's a crap shoot.
