We own at OKW and have added on at BCV. I'm not really a fitness nut, but have been working on my weigh lately. The only way I can seem to keep it off is to exercise every other day (and it works -- I've lost 108 pounds in the last two years). I now swim about 2 miles every other day at a fast clip (about 40 min.). When at Disney, I come off the food watch, but I want to stay on exercise track.

While at OKW, I have always swam my "laps" at the back pool early in the morning. I know the pool is not officially opened, but the cast members there have always said it was ok--because I'm not making very much noise.

Now the questions:
Any idea where I can do this at BCV?

Is there an indoor pool at the DI? Will DVC have access to it when the DI DVC opens? Whats it like Etc.

Thanks for all the answers.

I have swam laps at the BC quiet pool before. It is rectangular in shape. Usually no one is there early in the a.m. You will be able to use it when staying at the Villas. You might even be able to swim laps at the BCV pool depending upon its shape.

CMARK,
Averaging 3mph over 2 miles is some fast swimming!!
Did you swim in college?
Keep it up.

Yes, I swam at Emory. I firmly believe its the best exercise you can do.

My DD is a swimmer and would like to be able to swim laps while we are in WDW this summer. We will be staying at VWL and BWV. Any suggestions about where she can swim there? Will she need to pool hop to find a good lap pool?

The quiet pool at the BWV will work for lap swimming, although it is not ideal. You do get a lot of work on turns, since these smaller pools are not the typical 25 yard minimum that competitive swimmers are used to using for workouts. I have had no difficulty swimming laps in the quiet pool even in the middle of the day, since there have been few other swimmers in the water most of the times I have been there (most recently in mid-March). There were a few sunbathers once or twice, but usually nobody else was in the water. Most of the pool action is over at Luna Park. I have heard that one of the pools at the Contemporary is the best "lap" pool at WDW, but have never actually checked this out. At the rate I swim, it would be a waste of gas to pool hop just to get to a better lap pool. I actually like doing the turns. It gives me a rest since I can coast off the wall after the turn :).

..... I'll be at the F&W festival in Nov, if your there can you do a few extra laps for me ?

cmark, first of all congrats on the weight loss! If you get a chance, try swimming against the current at SAB. Last year, I did an arm work out in the gym, then did the swim against the current for only about 10 minutes (five with 5 year old around neck), and what a burn. We'll be there in Nov for F & W also. Keep it up!:)

My twins are competitive swimmers. We go to WDW annually or bianually usually during their seasons. We have found that Coronado Springs resort has a 25 meter pool next to the health club. It has lane lanes and is for lap swimming. We have tried workouts in various other quiet pools but there are usually distractions. If you are a DVC member you can pool hop to this pool.

Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for!

And we are!
