Hi all :) I have a severe chlorine allergy, I break out in awful rashes if it's on my skin :( so I cannot swim in it. I know this is a long shot, but are there other options for swimming at WDW? We'll be staying at the Grand Floridian in August and are just wondering if there's anywhere at WDW I don't have to sit out and watch everyone.

I have been going to Disney for years and have been sitting here thinking if there's an option for you that's non chlorinated.Years sgo when River Country was open, would of been your best option.A water park in the lagoon, so it would not have been chlorinated, but maybe thats why it closed. The only option on Disney property I came up with is at Typhoon Lagoon, there's an attraction, Shark Reef. You are able to snorkel in a real reef with live marine life all around you. With actual marine life and a reef I wouldn't think there's chlorine in it, but I'm not 100%.You could call Typhoon Lagoon and ask to speak with someone to be sure.

The other thing I was thinking about is Discovery Cove. Yes, it is off property but may be a real fun option for you.You get a full day of activities like, swimming with dolphins and snorkeling through reefs, bird aviary where their all around and actually come and sit on your hand.I believe you get a voucher for lunch and some discount or a free pass to Sea World, I can't remember how it worked.Again, with animals and reef I would not think there's chlorine, that's its all salt water.I would call and make sure but it's a fun experience the whole family would enjoyWe loved it when we did it.Its not the cheapest thing, but for all you get it's worth it.

These are just a couple of my thoughts. Im sure no matter what you choose you will have a great time.

I can't think of any pools at WDW that aren't chlorinated. In fact, I don't have an allergy but the chlorine levels in the jacuzzis are so high (I guess I know why...) that the steam rising up has so much chlorine in it that it stings my eyes.

Like the PP said, I'm sure there is no chlorine at Shark Reef (but you can't really swim in there, just snorkel through it), or some of the pools at DC since there are marine animals in them. DC is a wonderful, but very expensive experience.

I thought Disney used bromine in their pools, not chlorine?:confused3

Good read here: http://disneyworldforum.disney.go.com/questions.aspx?sort=&page=&qid=209280&pid=45&cid=109

Looks like it's Bromine, with the mentioned exceptions:

I have been told that Storm Along Bay at the Yacht and Beach Club resorts uses a salt water filtration system, but you need to be careful with those. Those types of systems are meant to break down the salt so that it more naturally chlorinates the pool. You might still be dealing with an allergen in that case.

Unless you allergic to bromine too, it sounds like you are in luck OP!
