DCL provides life vests (blue) for all who swim at Castaway Cay. They fit sort of like a drink cooler with ties. Thick foam and cylindrical....all sizes minnow to, well, fullback....I don't think the arm swimmies would be considered adequate. I was swimming with Cash, who was wearing his own life vest and a CM swam out to provide me with a vest, although I am certified in SCUBA. They want to see a sea of blue in the blue sea... :teeth:

:fish: :fish: I have one who is a good swimmer and one who is so so. I plan on bringing swimmies for the pools on board for my not so good swimmer.

If you are talking about the pools, they wont need anything in the Mickey pool. It is only 18 inches deep. The Goofy pool I would be careful when I let the 4 yos get in to be honest. It isn't very big & not really for swimming. Sometimes the older kids jump from the top deck into the pool. The water itself is a couple feet below the main deck so they can't really see everyone in the pool...or don't pay attention.

I agree, the Mickey Pool is suitable for just about any child with no floatation at all. The Family Pool would probably be terrifying to most 4 yr olds when it is crowded. There is much splashing, thrashing and jumping and is chest high even to a short adult.

At CC, the slope is fairly gradual, but if your child enjoys the swimmies, they deflate and take up very little room in the suitcas. :wave2:

I also agree...there is not need for swimmies in the Mickey pool...and the goofy pool...we'll my kids didn't even enjoy that one (6&11) because there was WAY to many kids in the pool, little or no supervision, to rowdy...well you get my point...Just not a real good place for a 4yo.

I took my daughter in the goofy pool once but it was to dangerous, kids were jumping over our heads into the pool, onto other people...just was Not comfortable in that atmosphere.

I had really good luck with Float Suits link when my nephew was learning to swim. He had a lot of anxiety that he wouldn't be able to surface if his head went under. The Float Suit taught him the feeling of buoyancy. He was paddling around by himself the first day and swimming without the suit within a couple weeks. The fact it looks like a cool scuba suit also helped. Swimmies are geeky. :teeth:
