My family is a few weeks away from our 3rd visit to Discovery Cove. We absolutely love it there! it does seem expensive but when you consider it includes 14 day tickets to Seaworld & Aquatica (and Busch Garden for an additional $22 per ticket) its a fantastic value. DC is one of our favorite vacation days

I don't know when you are visiting (is it soon?) but there is currently a Mothers Day special running at Discovery Cove. Dolphin swim admission is just $219 pp.

Like the PP mentioned, the price is really quite reasonable considering for your $219 you receive your admission to Discovery Cove for the entire day, your 30 minute dolphin swim experience, unlimited food (breakfast, lunch, snacks), unlimited beverages (including alcohol), your parking for the day, a 6 x 8 family photo, all your necessities for the day at DC (sunscreen, towels, etc) *plus* 14 days admission to both SeaWorld and Aquatica (which can be used either before, after, or both before and after your DC day). And, as an added bonus, if you purchase admission to DC, you can also add on a parking pass for an additional $30 which provides for unlimited parking at SW & AQ for those 14 days as well (a huge savings!).

DC is way more than just an opportunity to swim with the dolphins. Its a full-day park that is soooo relaxing. No crowds, no lines, all-inclusive.....absolutely worth every penny IMHO .

I wish I could get the florida resident price....it's $339 per person when I looked....times that by 5 people and it's one expensive day!

You've got a couple of things working against you right now.....number one, your travel date is fairly soon (2 months), and two, its in the peak of the summer season (July).

Your best bet to get a good rate at DC is to book early. I booked our August 2014 date back in October 2013. We paid $259 pp, but now rates for our date have increased to $319 pp. Since there are limited number of admissions sold for each date, the remaining passes grow more expensive as available quantities diminish.

DC is also very expensive for "one day". Your DC price includes 14 days admission to both SeaWorld and Aquatica. To add DC to a Disney trip and not use the passes to the other two parks greatly reduces the value of your DC admission. On the flip side, the $259 pp is an amazing price for a 14 day theme park pass!

Just my personal opinion but if you have family members who will not want to go into the dolphin pool, don't take them. We went after my deployment several years ago. At the time my two younger kids were under 3 and my older two were in middle school. We did not take the younger two. I guess if you don't have a sitter it makes it harder. I saw families who brought Grandma who just sat on the "sideline" all day. It is expensive if the person can not have the full experience. My youngest is now 11 and I have thought about taking her to swim with the dolphins (for her birthday) several times but right when she was old enough to go into the dolphin pool she made a few comments like she may be scared so I didn't take her. If I am paying that much money I want her to be comfortable and not back out after we are in the park.

I have a couple things to add. First, I managed to a get $50 discount per ticket by using a promo link sent out by the Seaworld email list. So I would sign up for the emails. You may not get a promo code but who knows for sure?

Also, the day pass (no dolphin swim) is less expensive than the dolphin swim. We did it this past March because our son was only 5 and not eligible for the swim. I would not hesitate to go again on just a day pass. My son LOVED it and I just overheard him yesterday telling a family friend how many southern rays and cow nose rays he touched.

I did this last June as part of my Bucket List and highly recomment their swim with the dolphins program. Less expensive than DC but better experience. We had a group of 4 plus the trainer and it was amazing. Also it's a research facility so all the $$ go back into the program.
