Hi!
I read its a good idea to wear swim socks/slippers at Blizzard beach - do they sell them there?

Thanks,
lynn

Definitely worth getting but they are expensive at BB. Either get them at Walmart or buy before you leave.

I bought ours from Sports Soccer for less than £5 a pair.:thumbsup2

I would not go to a waterpark without them as sometimes the ground can get really hot.

They've got them in Tescos at the moment too. I think we paid $10 or $12 for some at BB a few years ago.

Blisteringly hot! :scared1: Even if you just have some cheap flip flops or something light that you can loop onto a waistband of your bathing suit .... anything other than barefoot!

Definitely agree with getting before you arrive. We all had swim shoes except DD.
We bought in Walmart and by the end of the day her feet were a lovely ting of pink as the colour in the shoes ran.

At Blizzard Beach there are plently of water sprays to cool the paths but I struggled to walk without shoes in the heat of the summer :)

Definitely buy some!

When we went in July, several years back, we didn't bother with them while on a day out at BB. By the end of the day, I had literally burnt my feet. They were sore while at the park and in the water, but didn't bother me too much at the time. A couple of hours after getting out the water, dry and home again, I ended up with blisters appearing on my feet. We then had to hire a wheelchair for a couple of days while they went down because they were just too painful to walk on.

Now, I never go away without them - spring, summer, autumn, winter, they are as essential as my swimming costume! :rotfl:

Is it better to buy here or in Orlando? If here any recommendations?

I just take our mary jane crocs. We left them under a chair while swimming and then when we went on anything were we wouldn't get back to our starting point once we got off, we hooked them onto our wrists. You can even take them with you in Cross Country Creek.

As to whether it is better to buy them here or there, it really depends if you know where to get them there and how soon into your trip you are going to need them. It doesn't help much if they cost less there but you have to go an a massive runaround to find them.

It also depends on the time of year you are going. In America, they start to sell out around September time, and after that they don't get any more. We had this trouble one September holiday and eventually found some water shoes in the clearance box at a random Walgreens! But BB and TL were sold out, the Disney shops were sold out, Walmart was out! We were lucky to find the clearance stuff!

If you are not travelling in July or August, I would buy before you go. That way you know you will have them. Tesco Direct did them last year, but we ended up getting ours from a little camping shop in our local town! So just hunt around a bit.

I would definitely recommend them, in September you could really feel the heat on your feet! I bet it is much harsher in July/August...:scared1:

I saw some decent swim shoes yesterday in our local 'The Range' store for £4.99. I will definitely be buying us some when we go next year and dumping them in our hotel bin before we leave

Hope this helps :goodvibes

not only are the paths hot the surfaces on the bottom of the pools can be quite rough!

Last year I cut the bottom of my big toe due to the surface in the wave pool at typhoon lagoon.

we said that on our next visit that we would get the waterproof shoes. Also my DF is planning on getting a wet suit kind of top as he always gets burned on waterpark days despite applying suncream constantly!

I saw them in Sainsburys yesterday.

Ours came from Sports Soccer and I know that Tesco Direct do them as well.

We bought ours last year and are taking the same ones this year. They are really good:thumbsup2 and were only £4 or £5 a pair

got some fro aldi/lidl a few weeks ago for r£4..they are heavy so if i need the weight i ll leave them there

I take larger than necessary very light cotton shirts with for DD and I. My skin is not sun sensitive but DD is not used to the heat and it keeps the sting off of you. I also don't like walking around in a bathing suit without some kind of cover over me. The wetsuit style tank top sounds good - maybe try an all in one so you can guarantee landing at the bottom of the big slides with all your attire attached .... ;)

We should all post our shoe sizes and do a water shoe swap on arrival (like the fridge swap)

I got some last year in Sports Direct for £3!!

Not the most attractive thing I own, but they were perfect for the water parks!!

There are some things where, by not being attractive, they are less likely to get nicked (either by accident or deliberately). I would be more hesitant wearing things I don't think look that great at home where I could be recognised  but there are times when they can serve a positive purpose. ;)
