We were planning on buying our son's swim nappies (eg. like Little Swimmers by Huggies) in the US rather then taking two big packs with us. We have our own villa with a pool and are also spending the second week at the beach with our own pool, so I am sure we will get through loads. Does anyone have any experience with buying swim nappies in the US? Are they easy to find in places like Walmart or should we take a supply with us to be on the safe side?

Yes. Easy to get anywhere and more choice than the UK.

Walmart sells everything (you'd be surprised at some of the things they sell !)

:confused3 can I just say.. I dont see the point of swim nappies! :confused3
I had no idea that the wee wee didnt stay in them. Actually it goes straight through.. all it does is keep the other stuff in too... and to be honest a pair of towelling pants so long as they are well fitting will work as well...

We made the mistake when DS was a baby of leaving him in one around the pool when he was sitting in his pushchair asleep...
lets say the pushchair was rather soggy after that afternoon  :rolleyes1

Agree with you. Someone just told me about cloth reusable swim nappies that you can get easily in the US. Seems alot more cost effective and enviromentally friendly. Will go on mission to find them in this country, I am sure they do them here.

ah katytrott... youre a breath of fresh air! :)

And i like doing my bit for the environment! ;)

Hi!
Yes,they sell everywhere - Walmart,Publix,Walgreens etc.

Enjoy,

Lynn :)

You can buy reuseable cloth swim nappies in Mothercare, would they be any good to you?

We have our own pool in the back garden and have always used Little Swimmers at home, but saw these at Mothercare and bought 2. I figure rinsing a nappy for a couple of weeks won't kill me, and it saves money and suitcase space!!

You can get the reusable swim nappies from Boots, they are a bit plastic looking though. You just put the towelling liners inside them and away you go (so to speak ;) ) I must admit though that I plumped for the Little Swimmers as the thought of washing out pooped on towelling every night of my holiday didn't seem like the best option! JMO though. :confused3

I think if you're in a villa then it could be practical enough to wash cloth nappies since you have your own washer and dryer so you can just stick the stuff in in the morning and come back it at the end of the day but I imagine in a hotel it could be quite inconvenient since you're tied to the laundry room/close by while your wash is on.

Thanks all. Cloth nappies sound a good idea and it is nice to little swimmers will be available if they fail.
I always feel slightly guilty about disposables nappies with environment. I assess and prescribe nappies/pads in the NHS particularly for the elderly as part of my job, so I suppose I feel slightly responsible for the amount of nappies ending up on land fill sites. I decided I didn't want my son to contribute to this :rotfl2:
