SWGE Opens August 29!

They have already begun ride testing at Disneyland, from what I have been told. I think it is a crowd control strategy.

It may be a crowd control strategy.

However, I would expect that debugging the ride in Disneyland will speed up debugging in Disneyworld. If the rides are carbon copies of each other, then identifying a flaw and fixing it in Disneyland can shorten the time to implementing the fix in WDW.

Im sorry- But- Am I excited to got to GE when its open- yes.

Not having a AP or being local want to pay to see a half opened version of GE- NO

AP and local folks will flock to the early open and the crowds will be miserable for a half baked potato.
I totally hear you on this! I was ready to book today. And then I heard that RotR will not be open. And that FPs will not be offered. And that Park tickets, Annual Passes, vacation packages and Walt Disney World Resort Hotel stays do not guarantee access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It is all just a bummer. For me, the experience is important. Why book to be there in the first weeks when the experience itself may be lacking? No way that I am waiting in a line. And they have not said that SWGE will be included in EMM and DAH. I'm sure they will come up with new experiences that will cost much more than the current EMM and DAH.

I think folks underestimate how much impact Star Wars will have on attendance. Avatar may have been a successful movie but it doesn't have anywhere close to the pop culture attraction of Star Wars. The first Star Wars movie was issued in 1977, there have been multiple movies since, and they are making more still. My kids LOVED Star Wars growing up in the 90s and 00s, and I still see more Star Wars memorabilia than anything else. Haven't done any research, but Star Wars as a brand strikes me as much more popular than the Disney brand. I think it is going to be hugely popular for many, many years. Nothing Disney has ever done will compare. Of course, I could be incredibly wrong, but that's just my take.
You are exactly right. This will draw in people who have never been to a Disney park before. I care nothing of SW, know nothing about SW yet I do realize the cult following it has. And it might take years and years for the hype to die down just a bit.

So I log in to see the opening dates...we are at WDW Aug. 21-28 lol! I don't know if I should be upset we are missing opening day or be happy we are dodging a bullet haha!

So I wonder about all the people who had a vacation planned during this and are now either cancelling or rescheduling. If you are going to reschedule, what time frame are you looking at?

If all the rides and cool things aren’t even open when the land opens, there is no point of going to the land to me.

So I wouldn’t change a trip over it

Though it was only the day before official, they did soft opening for Avatarland, it is after all the Disney way. No telling how they would for SW. Someone said on a different post that no FP line would speed up Standby. True but to what noticeable extent.

Thinking of bringing my dates up the week or two before.

Count me in as another shocked one! DH and I are leaving the kids behind for an adults only food and wine trip in October staying at BWV, I knew there was a chance it may be open for us but I was really hoping it wouldn’t be.

Business as usual for us, if we get a chance to go, cool, if not oh well! Here’s hoping the crowds don’t spill over too much to the other parks.

It would help a great deal if the Gondola system was running this early too. We now know what "Fall" means to Disney :)

No real dog in the fight, but I was gonna try to get to Universal Orlando this year in Nov, hoping to avoid any SW spillover before GE opened. Not so sure now. I'm assuming Universal will get some crowds, too.
My sister is in the same boat. Taking her boys to universal for first time and thought they were safe on early Nov. I don’t know how much affect the other non-Disney parks will feel. But she might want to go ahead and book Cabana Bay Room.

Well no trip for me this year!

I am not going before August (no PTO) and am not going with this being new
