Sweet Tea at WDW...

I had to give up sodas completely about a month and a half ago, and now 95% or more of my intake is tea. BTW the health benefits of cutting out sodas have been numerous and tremendous. I don't really like sweet tea, much, because I feel like most of it is way over-sweetened. I'd prefer unsweetened tea that I lightly sweeten myself.

Is brewed, but unsweetened tea available at CS places and/or in the mug refill locations in the resorts?

Good topic, OP!

Hi! :) At Artist Palette (SSR) I was able to get unsweetend iced tea (brewed) but I am not sure about the CS places, as I always got bottled water instead of soda. Sorry! I hope someone else knows! I have tried to stop drinking soda, I absolutely love Classic Coke and detest diet soda, so water and iced tea are my drinks of choice.

I believe that there are only 3 places on property that serve sweet tea. I enjoyed the sweet tea at Columbia Harbor House back in May. I will be trying Tail's End in October. I did stop at the McDonalds at DTD in May, but their tea was very watered down and not sweet at all.

I've been browsing the menus and have noticed a lot of them say "Nestea". Well for REAL sweet tea drinkers in the South, Nestea is not-so-lovingly referred to as "Nastea" for a reason. It's the most vile drink that resembles real, fresh brewed, sugar sweetened tea over ice about as much as mud passes for chocolate ice cream. Is there anywhere in WDW that sells honest to gawd brewed from tea leaves sugar sweetened iced tea? Because otherwise, I am bringing my Iced Tea Pot, a box of Luzianne, and a 10lb bag of sugar.

I couldn't agree more with your comparisons! I am a Southern transplant (originally from SC but now living in WI) and the only way I get tea is when I make it myself. I have to have my parents send me the Luzianne!!! Luckily, they're very understanding and they supply me with any goodies from home as I need them. Ugh :scared: people don't know what good tea is here! They drink it from a can! What's worse.....sometimes it is diet! :scared: :scared: :scared: I make my own tea and I'm proud to say I've converted friends and family to sweet tea drinkers!

I completely understand where you're coming from!!! Let's end this Nastea madness!

Just what is sweet tea? :confused3

Just back from a 10 day disney trip my favorite drinks are Dr.Pepper and Sweet Tea. The only place that I found while there that had either one NOT TO MENTION BOTH:cheer2: was Rainforest Cafe. The rest of the time it was the standard:confused3

I'm with you on the Dr. Pepper and sweet tea. We did get sweet tea at Columbia Harbor House last week. The only place that I have found Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb is Beach Club food court.

I am not sure what sweet tea is exactly but one of the best beverages I have had at WDW or anywhere else is The Earl's Grey Lemonade at Earl of Sandwich at DTD. It is a blend of fresh lemonade infused with freshly brewed Earl Grey Tea.I just came across their menu from my last trip in 2005 so I am quoting the menu. I am really looking forward to going there my next trip in 12/07.I do love lemonade but I am also a big tea lover and drink it instead of coffee in the morning. I would make a special trip to EOS at DTD just to get my Earl grey lemonade but since I am there I will get one of their yummy sandwiches.:rotfl:

Sweetened tea, normally with sugar. Sugar is put in during the brewing process.

Being from the South, even I find sweet tea to usually be overly sweetened, even when brewed properly. I like to get a large glass of unsweetened tea, and put one bag of Sweet n Low in it. That's usually not nearly as sweet as "sweet tea", but is just sweet enough without parching me like sweet tea would.

Does anyone know where unsweetened, brewed tea can be found in the parks?

Deep South Sweet Tea - Boil water, add tea bags. Cover, and allow to cool to almost room temperature.

Pour into pitcher with desired amount of sugar (our family uses about 3/4 cup sugar to one gallon of tea), then finish filling pitcher with water. Stir and refrigerate - best if completely cooled before serving so as not to melt the ice too quickly.

When served, fill glass with ice, then pour tea over.

:rolleyes1 Taught to make tea this way when I was around 6 or 7 years old...

They have it at Electric Umbrella at Epcot for sure, so I'd bet it can be gotten at other CS. I like my tea hot with lemon, but the friend I was with only drinks unsweetened beverages and he was pretty happy to get the tea at Electric Umbrella, so I know they had it. This was on Sunday, so, quite recent.

Another amusing tea story- we ate in Morocco and I ordered the mint tea. They gave it to me iced?!? Whaaaat? (mint tea is traditionally served in Morocco hot and very sweet in small cups. Not as a giant iced tea.)

Thanks! That's at least one place that will have it. And you're right, if it's at a place like Electric Umbrella, it's bound to be at most of the other CS places.

Actually, even though I'm sure you're right about the mint tea traditionally being hot, that sounds pretty good: a minty iced tea. :)

I was looking at the menus for F&W Fest and I saw a booth that was sponsered by the state of Oklahoma. Anyways they had sweet tea on the menu.

heee where are you from, dansamy? I know you're from the south, but I just wonder specifically.

Mobile, Alabama.

To the SC->WI transplant, I can't believe you can't even get Luzianne. What does the grocery store carry in the tea aisle? :confused3

The iced mint tea was definitely tasty, but I do prefer it hot. I think the flavor of the mint comes out better that way. However, I'd also bet that not a lot of people want to drink hot tea on a hot day, so Disney probably made it iced by default. The server seemed pretty pleased when my friend asked for a second cup served hot though. :)

I found it at 2 places on our trip last month - the McDonalds stand by Canada in EPCOT and the AK RFC.
