DD13 and I were originally booked to fly Seattle to Long Beach getting in at 5:15 p.m. We had a good airfare with Alaska for $99 each way. Then a few weeks later, DH said, "Why in the world so late in the afternoon? I'd be perfectly willing to take you early so you can get in earlier and enjoy the parks that first day." I checked out how much it would cost to change to a flight that gets in at 2:15, and it was $50 each. I just gritted my teeth and did it. We want to get tickets for Fantasmic reserved seating, and it would be too late to pick them up with the original arrival time. Plus it would just be too rushed of an evening.

So I was just looking up my trip on Alaska Air. I got a message saying there had been changes, and to call a rep. Figuring it was the usual kind of thing, "Oh, your flight originally took off at 11:28, now it's taking off at 11:33" I called. Nope, they've been downsizing their LGB flights, and they'd bumped us back to the original time getting in at 5:15! I got a little panicky, and the nice lady said that they could switch us to the one earlier flight, 7:50 a.m. (ick. Drag the whole family out at 5 a.m. to take us to the airport.) I thought quickly and asked if they could put us on a flight into SNA instead, and they said sure!

So now, we are on an even better flight that gets us in just after 1 p.m., and to the closer, nicer airport. Super Shuttle will cost us less than half what it was going to cost from LGB (I do not understand that, it's only 2 miles farther away!). :cool1:  :woohoo: I am a happy camper!

Yay, lucky you!!! :thumbsup2 Just curious why you didn't book your flight to SNA in the first place?

Yup, last time I checked the best we could get was something like $338 apiece, as opposed to $217 :scared1:

Thank you, I'm pretty happy! DD13 just walked through and heard about it, high fived me and said "Sweeeeet!" We're starting to sound like Crush around here.

Thanks for the heads up! We are flying that route in Sept. I'd better go double check everything to make sure it hasn't been changed!

Howzit, Sy-!! I'm from Oahu, too! Yep, the price of everything is horrendous here.

Wassup Sistah... You went go get you tickets already? I hope so... 4 months away eh? When you going November?

Congrats on the change. You are wise to book early as not only will they be cutting back on flights, but upping the price.. Have fun.

We need to give pidgin lessons here. haha

Yep, I got my airline tickets to Portland (visiting a friend there, and then we're going to Disneyland), and from Portland to John Wayne Airport, as well as the park tickets and Disneyland hotel for October 19-24.

Ooh! 4 months to the day today!! :cool1:

I when go make my plane reservationa back in April right after Aloha when go close shop. 4 tix to Cali in to San Diego out through LAX and paid $1700. I tried to add another ticket for my sister and not they want $1200 for 1 ticket. Too bad Aloha folded. Now there is no one flying direct from HNL to SNA :worried:

I love the pidgin! :goodvibes Reminds me of our wonderful neighbors that used to live across the street. He was an aviation engineer, very smart and articulate, grew up in HI, and when his relatives came to visit, he suddenly dropped into that pidgin and sounded completely different!

Y'all are reminding me of my frosh year of college. For some reason, my pac northwest university recruits heavily in Hawaii, so it's packed with them for the first half of each year. (then half of them tend to go home to a different college b/c it's too different up here, and not in a good way) One of them *nearly* had me convinced that he had driven his car on a bridge...heck, it made more sense to me than to SHIP a car all the way to WA!!!:confused3

Big Ups for the Hawaii Love!!! :cool1:

FYI: To anyone who watches "Dog, the Bounty Hunter" - that is NOT how proper pidgin English is spoken. And the proper spelling (in the subtitles) is "brah", not "bra". It's a complete embarrassment. Pidgin is bad enough in and of itself; it doesn't need further butchering. LOL! (Please don't flame me - I've lived on Oahu all of my 40 years on this planet.)
