Sweet Mother of Fudge! 2/15 A Goodbye Summary~Pimples and Farts

My children are so very different. PC is such a charming gentleman. Today, I accompanied his class grade to a field trip. Being that I am a substitute teacher, I come in handy. One of the students needed to go home because she was sick. So I took over for the teacher for a little while. As I was directing the kids to the picnic tables for lunch, PC grabs my lunch and his, saying “Got your lunch Mom.” I watch as he chooses a seat at a table with his friends and sets my lunch bag next to his. Saving my spot. My heart ached with the beauty of it. Sitting there with his back to me, a simple brown bag that the other children respected as “space taken”.

I was gathering the stragglers, handling lunch debacles , a bloody nose, and a discipline situation. And every time I glance his way, there was my spot, waiting. He would never know that my heart was already there, sitting right next to him. Finally, he gives up and races over to me with the brown bag. “Here’s your lunch Mom.”
How thoughtful can a little boy be? This field trip had two classes and only two chaperones (me and a dad) both from the same class. When we got where we were going, I knew I would step up and go with the chaperone-less class. He did not complain once, that his mom did not come with him.
But that lunch bag let me know I was missed.
I told his earnest, sky blue eyes “No, Please put my bag next to yours. I am eating with to you.” I am rewarded with his limitless smile.

And I did. The teacher came back, I marched over and planted the Jiggler right next to him.

Did you ever get lost in the beauty of your child’s face? To see a thought play across his face, the connection and peace they have when they find your face, so they can share what was on their mind?
I could watch this child for hours, if life would let me. I think it’s the cheeks. So plumpy and kissable. The scent of those cheeks is exactly what a scented candle made in heaven would smell like.
After lunch we parted ways.
I tucked him in earlier tonight. He had so much homework and soccer practice, I had not had time to squeeze him into a hug. That lonely brown bag deserved a big hug. So he got it. And a quiet “Thank you” from a mother who can not believe her luck.

Wasn’t that touching? Really, I cried while I wrote it.
But I have two children remember?

She dances everywhere. She skips more than she ever walks. Her little hands turned up like wings, in the most daintiest of motions. Think 1940’s movie star.
And another thing. I breast fed both these kids until they were two. PS has liked to feel my skin ever since she has been weaned. Well, she was more “banned” after she bit me like I was a banana. It’s a weird habit, but like the dancing, we are used to it.
She likes to stick her little hand in my armpit, and then sniff her fingers. Like the evil spawn of Mary Catherine Gallagher.
Then she announces it’s current condition with her highly refined stink-o-meter.
“Stinky” (which is in her world is ‘perfect’)
“Too Stinky” (shower time)
or
“Too Clean” (after the shower)
I am so used to the motion, I never even notice it.
Oh.
And she calls my armpits her “Stinky little minkies”
I can’t tell you how often, sitting in the front seat of a shopping cart, she has pulled this move. To the surprise of those around me. And the shame of my red face when she does the announcing part. Now she walks next to the cart.

Tonight, we find out she has gotten her first detention. In first grade. Remember, we are used to PC who has never met a rule he did not follow.
She is twirling, dancing in front of Daddy who is trying to get her to focus on her homework.
She stops mid twirl, reaches over to pinch his cheek , and tells him “I have to stand on the line tomorrow at recess.”
I stop cleaning the kitchen to listen.
(You can’t ever surprise Daddy, because of his line of work)
Daddy~“Why do you have to stand on the line?”
She bounces back to the twirling, switches to jumping,
Her~ “We were making to much noise” She walks over to our ridiculous Cocker Spaniel.
She pushes the hairy monster into a large box that is serving as a playhouse in our living room. Green Eyes peek out of one of the hand holds. Cocker Spaniel nose peeks out the other hand holds.

Our other dog was not left out.

She bounces back out and continues her story.
“We could put our heads down or stand on the line, I chose the line.”
She is out again twirling again.
No crying. No regret. No remorse.
I catch Mr. The King’s eye. We both shake our heads in amazement. PC had a teacher that sent home a warning with him once. It took forever to console him. After which we discovered it was sent home by accident. He had not actually done anything wrong.
These kids are so very different.

So where were the Kings? In Disney still. We woke up hungry. We were meeting Grandpa at Chef Mickey’s. We slept late. We slept long. But out ADR’s were for 10:45am. So the timing was perfect. I was able to stuff PS in her homemade Chip n’ Dale outfit. I knew she would be a hit there. Chip and Dale are so fun, and wait until they see PS likes them better than The Big Cheese! Or his Girlfriend.

I picture them dragging her around the restaurant. Dancing and playing. It is going to be Hot Stuff!!

We get to the Contemporary. There are renovations going on for our future pleasure. We take the picture in front of the Giant Plate. We walk around and sit in the butt coral. I take video of Grandpa taking video. Glad we are both so original. I wonder, out loud where Goofy is? He is usually out front dorking around. PS even had her accusing finger warmed up. No luck.

We were soon seated at our table. Due to the sitting, we had a few minutes before any characters arrive. I am sure the other adults put things together before I did. I think that makes me mad. When they are all in on it. I can see it in there eyes, the knowing. Watching me like a lit piece of dynamite.
I straighten PS’s outfit. Make sure her ring is pointing out.
I crane my neck around to see the stars. Ohh look!! A few tables away, Mickey!

And Minnie! I see Minnie!, Right next to her is Goofy! Hey Goofy! Congrats on being promoted to table walker!
“Isn’t that nice, they let Goofy loose.” I comment like a proud Grandma to my strangely still family.
But I am still happy go dumpy about the whole thing.

Then, barley visible, I see the freaking Duck.

IMG_9340_2.jpg

Donald. Duck.

I go ahead and stand up.
Where are Chip and Dale?
They have been fired from Chef Mickey’s.
I sit down with a thud.

So the custom outfit is incorrect. For the character greeting.
Let’s not mention the DONALD DUCK custom outfit I have hanging neatly back in Pop Century. Or how hard DONALD can be to find.
I look back at my family. They know I know. They can tell the Jiggler is clenched in frustration because I am suddenly 8 inches taller.

Of all the stinking luck.

Up Next: The Funniest Chef Mickey cast we have ever had.

Please check back soon, Mr. The King will be adding pictures. I am toot tired now. I will check spelling after my eyelids are done with all the closing

Chapter 17 Goofy Packs a Punch :goofy:

Ducks. :sad2:

And what a sweet and heart-warming story about your children. Got me all choked up.

Just this evening...my son looked at me and said...(sorry...I'm a little verklempt)..."Mom, I love you. Can I have some Swedish Fish?"

Brings me to my knees.

I love it when he tells me he loves me to get what he wants.

He always blinks his eyes over his chubby little cheeks...cocking his head ever so slightly to the left...and peering from under his long eyelashes.

Oy.

If only I fell for such grandstanding. ;)

Aww I'm glad I read another update before I left. I'll have some fudge for the jiggler and read that other TR when I get back. :thumbsup2

Your writing is beautiful Deb. Your stories about your children remind me to stop and enjoy my own children more often. :flower3:

I bet the Chip and Dale outfit was cute regardless of the 2 squirrels not being there to see it. Chef Mikeys is a fun place to be.

great update.

sorry about the costume.

I have been reading your story but haven't posted yet. I love your writing! This last story about your son had me crying this morning. I have to say that the whole time I'm reading it, my DS is chasing a balloon around me and it was driving me nuts until...I finished reading and took another look at him. He was having such a fun time with the balloon. How could it bother me?

Thanks!!

BTW, I am really disappointed about Chip and Dale. We have ADR's in December at Chef Mickey's and we love them!

:thumbsup2 Great update, Deb.

DD4 had preschool yesterday and then went to a friend's house while I had a meeting at DD7's school. Then, I finally got in to see my Dr. at 3pm and then DD7 had Brownies last night with a parent meeting. So, when I finally tucked DD4 into her bed at 8pm, it was really the first time we had spent together all day. I just had to hang out there for a few minutes and just hug on her. I had missed her so much and didn't even realize it! I'm glad to read that other moms get this way too!:cloud9:

Agh, what a shame about Chip & Dale being removed from Chef Mickey's. They are my favorite characters - especially Chip and his cute little nose. We had such a blast meeting them at DHS and the Garden Grill on our last trip. :squirrel: (OK not a chipmunk, but the closest thing I could find)

Than, barley visible, I see the freaking Duck.

Donald. Duck.

I go ahead and stand up.
Where are Chip and Dale?
They have been fired from Chef Mickey’s.
I sit down with a thud.

What no Chip & Dale. Where are they going to be ow. They have been kicked out of CM's, Garden Grill and LTT. Where can my baby see his favorite Chipmunks, where I ask you!:headache:

Loved the class trip story. You are going to have your hands full with Ms. PS:scared:

Oh my gosh! Where to start??? I'm mostly just a lurker/reader but this morning between your sweet momma's description of your family and your stories of your babies, I am sitting here all teary! I even did my makeup already, so now, I get to go and do it all again--that's okay! Your sweet tales are worth it! :flower3:
I read your cockroach report and now have been following along with this one...You'r an amazing writer! Thank you for sharing your family and trip. I can't wait for the rest.... :surfweb:

I can't remember the last time I saw Chip and Dale at Chef Mickey's. I'm not even positive I've ever seen him there. It seems to me it has always been Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and the Duck. But I confess, all of the character meals start to blend together in my mind. It's an endless parade of fluffy costumed characters and parmesan potatoes. Sorry you caused yet another emotional scar on your child by dressing her up as a rodent when there was no reason to do so.

It could have been worse, though. You could have made her attend a party where an old lady hopped up on the scooter of an old man and did things your normally don't see unless you have a subscription to Showtime. Oops. Too late for that.

:moped:

I can't believe I didn't realize you had a trip report going. What the heck is wrong with me! :confused3

I'm not done reading yet but I have a question -
How do you make tinkerbell farts?

and a comment.
My boyfriend has the same squirrel shirt as your DH! His kids don't get it either.
My other favorite shirt of his says "You looked better online."
Even my parents get a kick out of that one.

Here's my only squirrel shirt:

(It says "Squirrels gone wild")

Great update. I love the way you described your children. My oldest dd got a yellow straight face her second day in kindergarten for talking in the lunch line. She cried for hours. She is now sixteen and that is the only time she ever got in trouble at school. My second child ds was sent to the principal's office in kindergarten for fighting with a sixth grader. He was throwing cheetos at him. I got notes from the teacher all the time. Silly things but still he had trouble behaving. They are so different. The baby dd is 15 months and her personality is coming out full force. Tonight dh asked where Grace was and ds said she was playing in her room. When dh went to look for her she wasn't playing in her room. He found her in our bathroom with my bra over her shoulder like a purse (which is what she thought it was). She was walking around with the bra on her shoulder waveing and saying bye bye. It was too funny. She is our extra little blessing from heaven. It took us nine years to get pregnant for her.

I really loved this update. I just really get it. You made me cry too.

Laura

Oh pass me a tissue....that was the sweetest thing...your kids are very lucky to have you as a Mommy! You stinky minky you!

I can't remember the last time I saw Chip and Dale at Chef Mickey's. I'm not even positive I've ever seen him there. It seems to me it has always been Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and the Duck. But I confess, all of the character meals start to blend together in my mind.

We had breakfast there in 1998 and it was Chip and Dale, but for dinner in 2007 it was Donald Duck.

Denise

The guy in the background is being a lion. Duh! :sad2: (Look at the singer and some of the other people are doing it too - it's part of the show where you have to act like a giraffe, a lion, a warthog or an elephant. )

Someone in my family had gastric many years ago and she gets the walking farts.
You know, I get them too. Which leads me to my next observation -
gastric bypass gives you old lady skin.
you remember when you were little and you could pull your grandma's skin and it stretched funny?
Well now I have that on my arms.
Tissue paper thin skin.
My boyfriend's kids discovered that this skin feels neat and much like stinky minkies, it became something for them to rub on whenever they are close to me.
So me, being the dumb childless idiot I am, thought it would be a good idea to explain to them (using logic - which all kids understand) that playing with my fat makes me uncomfortable, especially in public because it's something I'm not happy about.

The kids heard : "Amber loves it when we play with her fat in public and make it swing back and forth! It helps to giggle maniacally to draw even more attention to the action!!!"
:sad2:
I'm sure all you parents saw this one coming.
